Farscape is clever and interesting and deeply weird and full of complicated female characters who are strong in various senses of the word (but none of them are strong in every sense, which adds to the awesome) and is MADE OF TRAUMA!!! People get tortured a lot, there's a lot of "Forced to do something horrible to someone you care about due to nasty circumstances", and people you come to really care about suffer and die (and sometimes even stay dead).
