That's an admirable philosophy! I don't think I have the strength to adopt such a strict attitude myself (as I write things as the inspiration strikes me, rather than making a conscious 'I'm going to write a Gwen/Morgana fic today' decision, trying to maintain a ratio would mean disregarding some inspiration and thus losing fics, which I wouldn't want to do), but I'm definitely going to keep a mental eye out for stories I can write involving ladies. (I need to return to that fic in which Gwen and Merlin swap bodies! And possibly write the Utena-as-Yuna's-guardian idea, although I find it terribly difficult to capture the voices of characters when I've heard them speak only in a foreign language. And I really want to write fanfiction for The Mentalist, in which I seem to gravitate towards Van Pelt's point of view.)
Also, I need to make sure I don't relegate the female characters to the background when writing about ensemble casts; that's so important.
When I've archived all my fanfiction, I'm thinking of drawing up a list of all the characters I've written. I think seeing the ratio could be interesting.
