Oh, there's just this whole karma thing where if you hurt innocent bystanders it makes you more evil and then you can't level up properly unless you make up for it by healing a bunch of people. Unless you're going the evil route, I guess, in which killing innocent bystanders would just be a bonus. Why didn't I go the evil route? Curse my overactive video game conscience.
