This was amazing. I just stumbled across it, but I'm really glad I did now -- you have the characters down to a T, I think, including the feel of their interactions from the game. I wasn't sure what to think at first, with the whole "extra game" setup, but all the little details of Neku's thought process and their banter drew me in, and though I somehow didn't see it coming 'til the last few sentences the conclusion was perfect. I'd quote my favorite parts, but I think I might be here all day (Joshua's totally flippant attitude to everything, like the missions--the recurring jokes about his history of shooting Neku--the way Neku flipped between justifiably extremely suspicious and disturbingly comfortable with Joshua--the ramen guy); this was a lot of fun to read line-to-line, so it's extra satisfying how cohesive it was as a whole.
