I thought when I was writing this entry that 'redemption' wasn't exactly the right term in this case, but I couldn't think of any more concise term for 'starting out working against the heroes and then regretting your actions and changing sides'. I'm not necessarily saying he needs a redemption storyline; I'm saying his storyline as it stands is the sort of thing that usually interests me. (He didn't do a huge amount wrong, which is perhaps why the 'ooh, a redemption storyline!' side of me didn't really kick in while I was playing, but threatening Marlene to keep Cloud and his date quiet was pretty low.)

Maybe I find it hard to connect with him because he spends most of the game represented by a robot. If Reeve himself had been with the party, I'd probably have adored him (although of course in that case his storyline would probably have ended at the Temple of the Ancients).

I love how he's pretty much the only character in the game who simultaneously sees all the shades of gray and cares about doing the Right Thing (whatever that means to him)
