I think I've actually finished every Community fic I've ever started, which is highly unusual! But I do have a Harry Potter snippet:


“Dad?” Harry asked quietly, tapping the map with his wand. “Are you there?”

He had already steeled himself for disappointment, and his heart twisted sharply when words began to appear on the parchment. They weren’t from his father, though.

Mr Moony understands that the Marauder’s Map is a possession to be treasured, but regarding it as one’s father may indicate a slightly excessive level of attachment.

Harry took a deep breath, and then another one. He was going to have to say it. It felt a lot like stepping off a cliff.

“Um, my dad helped make this map. Years ago. He was a Marauder.”

There was a pause of a good six seconds before the Map responded. His breath caught at the name.

Mr Prongs finds this highly difficult to believe.

Mr Wormtail accuses Padfoot.

Harry’s heart gave another, much more unpleasant twist when the message from Pettigrew appeared. He was expecting it, of course, but he didn’t want the man who took his parents away to be here, listening, when Harry finally had a chance to get a shred of them back.

Shut up, Wormtail appeared in Sirius’s hand, followed almost immediately by, I mean, Mr Padfoot advises Wormtail to shut up.
