I'm sort of fascinated by watching inexperienced gamers play, because there are so many rules you learn that feel intuitive when you've played a lot of games, but watching someone who's new to games makes it clear that they aren't intuitive at all. One of the first games I ever played was Pokémon Red, and I got stuck within the first couple of minutes. You're told that Professor Oak has a Pokémon for you, so you go to his lab, but he's not in. An experienced gamer would go, 'Well, obviously I need to explore until I find the way to progress the game' (you actually get Professor Oak to show up by trying to leave town). Eleven-year-old me went, 'Am I supposed to... wait for him?'

Heavy Rain, though, is particularly entertaining because there's no reason for it to be possible to fail some of the things you can fail at. Opening the fridge doesn't need to be a challenge!

(I... think I may have been the one who made that entry on Loved. Whoops.)
