I heard it's not a bad idea to play Chaos;Head first, but, as you say, it's not localised, so I decided to jump straight into Chaos;Child instead. So far it seems possible to follow without having played Chaos;Head, which is a relief! If you're planning to play it, I'll make sure I don't post anything too spoilery outside a cut.
