Oh my gosh, that comic is glorious. And I love this AU (of the AU), with Gaster actually facing the fallout of his actions for more than about two seconds. Poor Alphys! And poor Papyrus worrying about Alphys! And Sans trying to figure out who the hell this monster is that Gaster says he doesn't want to hurt, omg.

I love all the little moments of Gaster downplaying his emotions while also being a seething mess of grief and guilt. There's no reason to get into the details of the brothers' creation! I feel like this bit is particularly brilliant, too:

“I hurt them, physically, to ensure their compliance and test my hypotheses, to say nothing of emotional damage and the ways I’ve no doubt impeded their development. To achieve my goals, I couldn’t allow myself to think of them as...” He pauses. Alphys has been a valued colleague to him, perhaps a friend, and she deserves better than his poor excuses. “I ask you not to make me tell you the details.”

I love the way he almost makes it sound like the issue here is the craftsmanship of his excuses. It's very poor work! Alphys shouldn't have to deal with that kind of shoddiness!

And despite your killer ending line, I absolutely want to know what happens after this. I'm going to be thinking about sad skeletons and monsters all week, I just know it. (I can't say that I actually mind this fact.)
