Honestly, Chloe's happiness was the biggest motivating factor in my continued interest in the first LiS, so I'm thrilled to know that if she survives, she maintains a good and healthy relationship with her surviving parent.
As for the scorpion, I got the exact scene you did! My assumption is that he always starts toying with it, but his ultimate response to Sean's cajoling is based off of his moral compass/previous guidance. Hence why I consider it a benchmark: it's meant to indicate to the player right away where Daniel is and what he's capable of.
Lastly, this game makes me want to road trip so hard. I want to go the Arizona desert and stargaze at a canyon!
