Isn't two beds pretty normal for hotel rooms? It's typically either that or a king in my experience. I remember thinking Final Fantasy VIII was weird for having three beds per room-- not because it's an uncommon concept, this game has Quistis EATING HER ENEMIES; but because a game with such an explicitly romantic main storyline really passed up the chance for awkward bedsharing shenans.
My headcanon for Final Fantasy XV, another game where the four-person party keeps staying in two-bed rooms, is that they cycle bedsharing duties so nobody gets stuck with Gladio every night.
I mean, they could also just get two cots, or set up a tent on the balcony.
