Switching from U4 to FF8 but sticking with the idea of characters you come to like - I hated Irvine when I played FF8, like really, REALLY disliked him as a slimy womanising creep (do you get a sense of my depth of loathing?!). Then I wrote a fanfic about him ('Superman' by Rosa Heartlily over on fanfiction.net, if you're interested :D ) and... I found a different side to him that led to me really liking him. Now, my view is, 'Oh, that Irvine is such a flirt!', said with affection and an eye-roll rather than through gritted teeth and eye-lasers.
