I'm glad to know I'm not alone in struggling with Reese/Iris!

Then again, the show did something similar with Finch/Grace, which I initially liked for being fucked up, but which got more and more annoying down the line.

Finch/Grace has its moments - the Machine matchmaking for Finch was cute, Finch letting her think he'd died was interesting, and I enjoyed the episode where Grace's number came up - but it's never entirely clicked for me, although, to be fair, that's probably at least in part because I was headcanoning Finch as gay before we learnt about Grace. Sorry, Grace; the deck in my head was stacked against you from the start.

'Guilty' was a very fun episode, even if I was unhappy to see Reese turn Zoe down! All your points in favour of it are very true, but particularly 'the show genuinely cares about the number even though they aren't connected to the big Samaritan Plot of Doom'. I'm still enjoying the show, but I find it a little exhausting that every number has to be connected to the overarching plot these days; it's always about Samaritan, or, if it's not about Samaritan, it's about the power struggle between Dominic and Elias. I miss having standalone episodes, where you could watch the show for forty minutes and experience a complete story in that time.
