It's so weirdly done! It's like they're actively trying to put the viewer off the Iris romance by progressing it in episodes that prominently feature more vibrant, fun characters flirting with Reese. I've seen canonical romances that just didn't click before, but this one leaves me feeling the writers were actively trying to sabotage it.
