That's The Psychic Barman.
I basically had a fit when Sam woke up while the others were in horrible peril. I spent the whole time in the present day thinking 'ARGH, WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THE FIGMENTS OF HIS IMAGINATION? ARE THEY ALL RIGHT?'
I've been watching the reactions on my friendslist and on

It is sad that he jumped off the building when his mother was still there, though; there was almost nobody for him in the present day, but there was still her. Obviously he belonged in 1973, but still. Poor, poor Mrs Tyler.
I have just remembered that I once scribbled down some lines and snippets of a Sam-wakes-up-and-eventually-kills-himself fic in a notebook somewhere, and now I will never be able to finish it because the actual show has done it better. Sigh. But it really was the ending they had to have, and they managed it in a far less depressing way than I thought would be possible.
Er, I suppose my point is 'I APPROVE'? Oh! Also, I absolutely loved that Sam's immediate thought when he began to think that 1973 might be reality was 'If Gene is real, I can't let this happen'. Sam and Gene are so wonderful.
