i always pick my parties based on my fondness for the characters first and foremost, which, from a strategic standpoint, is Terrible unless i feel in love with the tank of the crew huhu
i know when i played ffx i usually had yuna, auron, and tidus, with yuna being the character i shifted in and out the most (cause ngl i grew attached to everyone so i tried to balance them out, especially later on when, ahem, Strategy did Matter) and i would 1000% ship them (which is also another way i tend to base my party make-ups, like when i used to actively play fire emblem heroes, my party ships came above all else first
that's probably also why i struggled so much gameplay wise lol but the heart does what it does!)
