If a character is getting any kind of plot focus, I’ll usually put them in.
I really like this strategy, actually! I don't think I could adopt it, because it would result in a lot of suffering from the plot-relevant character being underlevelled, but I think it's a very cool idea.
You've got some very shippable parties in here! (Even if there are some less shippable ones in the mix; I can't get along with Yuna/Wakka either.) Cloud/Tifa/Aerith, Squall/Zell/Rinoa and Lightning/Fang/Vanille are particularly great. Although of course nothing beats Setzer/Relm/Strago/Mog.
