I Owe Him A Debt.
For most of Final Fantasy XVI, I haven't really had much of a sense of how much of the game is left, but I'm starting to feel that I must be getting towards the end. I'm in the mission 'Things Fall Apart'.
Don't pledge to kill Olivier, Dion! He's just a kid; he doesn't understand the bullshit political machinations happening around him.
It's very cool to see Joshua and Clive fighting together, but I've come to dread the eikon battles; they're so drawn-out! It's okay if sometimes you beat the boss and that means the boss is beaten and you don't have to fight it again, Final Fantasy XVI, I promise.
The brothers are reunited!! And they TOUCH FOREHEADS, which is guaranteed to make me think of Life Is Strange 2 and therefore guaranteed to emotionally devastate me.
I love that Jill starts crying as well. And Torgal running to Joshua!
What the FUCK just happened with Olivier excuse me EXCUSE ME
Dion hallucinating his father as he dies is absolutely agonising.
Big fan of how Clive is clearly in hideous pain every time he absorbs a new eikon.
I... suppose Dion's okay? I'm very confused.
Oh, man, I'm excited about how badly Dion accidentally killing his father is going to fuck him up.
'You... planned this?' Look, Dion, I understand the urge to find anyone else to blame for what just happened, but, even if Olivier does appear to be a little shit, he could not possibly have specifically planned 'you throw a spear at me and your father jumps in front of it'. It's your responsibility to blame yourself for this so I can take pleasure in your suffering.
Oh, it was a flashback! That makes more sense. But also I am required to boo the fact that Dion died so soon after that horrible event and therefore did not have sufficient time to be eaten up over it.
Annabella?? This is a pretty fucked-up sequence of cutscenes! I thought things would calm down once we'd defeated Bahamut, but evidently not. Poor Joshua.
I still don't understand what Ultima is or what it wants, but apparently it's having sex with Barnabas in the form of a number of different people, including Barnabas's mother, and that's interestingly weird. I could be into that.
Oh, wow, the skies going dark really makes me feel like I must be approaching the end of the game. Reminds me of the Mist covering the world in Final Fantasy IX. I wonder how it's going to end; it's hard for me to envision!
Oh, Dion is alive! This is a real rollercoaster.
I'm delighted by the big nerd who purchased our services as an escort just so he'd have someone to listen to his nerdy little history lectures.
