Oh, wow, yes, a chase sequence out of nowhere in that sort of game sounds incredibly stressful; I'm not surprised it was divisive! I love that the other thing that freaked you out was the very different 'someone existing unsettlingly at a difference' - it's just such a contrast in tone! - although I can absolutely see why that would also be uncomfortable.
