There was a moment when Doakes escaped the cage Dexter was holding him in and came across an alligator, and for a moment I genuinely thought 'holy shit, are they just going to resolve this storyline with "an alligator ate him, problem solved"?' (It's set in Florida! I don't know a lot about Florida, but, from the fact that alligators have featured in multiple episodes, I assume it has a fair few alligators.)
