Laguna had been concerned when Squall first met Macduff - worried because Squall refused to consider him his father, and Macduff had lost his children, and he wasn't sure that he would be able to bear it if Squall came to view somebody else as a father figure - but he needn't have worried, because Macduff had only wanted to see him because he wanted to hire him, wanted a man dead, and Squall was detached and professional in carrying it out.
