Under A Brighter Sky.

The package arrived today, Eva - thank you so much! (There's something very weird about seeing the handwriting of someone you've only ever spoken to online. It's a kind of 'wow, she really does exist! Fantastic!' moment.)

- IT IS VERY PRETTY. I APPROVE.

- I don't think I've ever been so confused by the beginning of an anime. FANTASTIC. "Okay, so, um, there are some little kids, and they're doing something but I don't know what, and... now one of them has lost an arm... because... they were trying to change something without enough mass into something else... or something... and now there might be glowing eyes, and there is also screaming! Um, hooray!" I'd also somehow got the names of the brothers confused before ever watching it. That was all I thought I knew about Fullmetal Alchemist: the name of the adorable short blond cyborg. (Well, that and the fact that he was blond - I didn't know that he was short, a cyborg, or adorable. But he is all of these things, and that makes me very happy.) AND THEN IT TURNS OUT THAT HE'S NOT ALPHONSE AFTER ALL. SO MUCH ARGH.

- He was blond though, so I didn't go in knowing nothing! I knew that there was a blond character! NOT ENTIRELY IN THE DARK! *thumbs up!*

- Oh, Edward, I love you. You and your short temper and your thoughts on religion and your closeness with your brother and your general adorability. I also like that weird symbol on the back of your clothes and your brother's arm and probably other places too. If I were interested in getting a tattoo, I would rather like something like that. As I'm not a tattoo person, I'm more likely to learn it and doodle it all over Important Work.

- I also like Roze, and I have no idea why. She's cute. In the way fluffy little kittens are cute, not the 'I'd hit that' cute. If you consider fluffy little kittens to be 'I'd hit that' cute, then, um, please stay away from my cats.

- ...did the subtitler translate 'Philosopher's Stone' as 'Sorceror's Stone'? Because 'Philosopher's Stone' would make more sense, what with it being alchemy and all. If it was supposed to be 'Philosopher's Stone' and they simplified the translation, somebody's going to get their head kicked in.

- I love close sibling relationships, so I am very happy indeed with the relationship between Edward and Alphonse. Somehow the fact that one of them is a giant, chirpy-voiced walking suit of armour makes it so much better. The world needs more chirpy walking suits of armour. (This doesn't mean that I'll be writing incest - I genuinely love the relationship as one between siblings. I probably wouldn't be averse to reading it, though.)

The dub on Rapture TV (if you have Sky, it's in the 200-250s and plays at eight every Sunday) calls it the Philosopher's Stone...I have a feeling your subtitlers were Harry Potter fans.

And YES, Ed is adorable and cyborgy.

...all FMA slashers start out as Ed/Al fans. XD;

And uh, you'll become far less confused after the first four episodes come to pass. ^_^

...You mean I might actually have a fellow Elricest shipper by the time you're done? SCORE. Glad you're enjoying it; it becomes so much win the further you go. XDDD And I agree, the art is gorgeous; Square wins for anime! XD ...Though I'm not sure they've done any anime other than FMA and Last Order... *thinks*

The later episodes call it the Philosopher's Stone (I'm 99.9% sure); the series winds up having several different subtitlers, so spellings of names sometimes change. ^^; Watch out for Lior/Rior/some other spelling - that one confused me a bit when the name kept changing.

Cyborg!Ed! *snicker* That'd be interesting. I adore Ed - and Al, too, but especially Ed. He's an amazing character, and their dynamic is fantastic. I SHOULD SAY MORE. But I'm kinda out of it right now, so I'll just wait for your further thoughts on FMA and then ramble at you some more.

You know no joy until you get the military characters. XD I am such a flailing military fangirl - at least the bits of it that are under Roy's command, anyway.

Pppht, you think the series starts out making no sense? Wait 'till you get to the END. Then they're not even trying anymore!

Um yeah, it's supposed to be Philosopher's Stone. I have no idea what the dubbers were reading at the time that they were working on that dub.

XD yep, the short blond one would be Ed. You'll be a LOT less confused after you get a few more episodes into it. Also, you'll re-watch it all once you've gotten the general plot and will go "OOOOOooooh!"

Ed and Al are love.

...

Interpret that however you want to.
