Well, it wouldn't necessarily have to be a classical literature course; one of my modules for my degree was English Literature 1919-Present. (There was a great moment in a lecture towards the end of the course; we'd been talking about modernism and postmodernism for weeks, and then:
Lecturer: Does anyone here feel confident that they know what postmodernism means? Entire Lecture Hall:(silence)
An entire year's worth of literature students, just bluffing their way through.)
