It was certainly better than the book, because it didn't have all that painful painful prose to slog through, and there were fewer 'OH ROBERT YOU'RE SO HANDSOME AND BRILLIANT AND WONDERFUL' lecture scenes. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would - I went in there fully expecting to stalk out in disgust during the first hour or so, but, although it dragged on a bit, it wasn't too bad.
I did originally read the book just to see what all the fuss was about, but having read it, er, I'm still not entirely sure.
