I'm not sure, really... maybe it's just the facination of seeing how people react when faced with the unfailingly polite Benton Fraser. Plus, of course, Due South is the kind of show where random weird stuff (ghosts, for example) just happens, so there's already a forgiveness there for things that are a bit odd.
