I saw the film of Fight Club before I read the book, and I enjoyed the film, but, yes, the book's style is fantastic, and you can't really get that across on screen. The line 'Tyler licks his lips wet and shining and kisses the back of my hand' has stuck with me for years; that entire scene really burrowed into my mind. I've no idea where my copy of the book is now, alas!
