I've now finished episode three of Life Is Strange 2! Spoilers under the cut.
OH MY GOD, THE 'GO TO BED WITH DANIEL'/'STAY AND GET A HAIRCUT' CHOICE IS THE WORST ONE YET
Daniel's upset because he feels I've been neglecting him, so I don't want to leave him to find his own way to bed! But Sean needs a haircut so badly!
Ugh. I will prioritise my relationship with Daniel even over Sean's hair, but it's a close thing.
I'm delighted by Sean, when Cassidy's talking about the best way to remember someone, clearly thinking she's about to kiss him and getting flustered. What a dumbass. I love him.
I'm so impatient to see discussion, but I can't look anything up until I've finished the episode or I'll get spoiled!
Cassidy: Finn likes you.
Sean: What do you mean?
Cassidy: Are you blind? You seriously can't tell?
Options: I like him too/I like you/Friendzone
I WANT TO CHOOSE ALL OF THESE. I don't think Sean needs to get caught up in romance right now, but I also want him to be in love with everyone!
Sean's response, if you chose 'friendzone', is 'I've been too busy. I'm all about the Friend Zone right now.' I'm glad that choice made him go 'I'm not thinking about that kind of thing at the moment' rather than 'I'm not into dudes'; that's exactly the tone I wanted.

The stats say 'Finn wasn't killed', so did Finn survive the explosion? (I was thinking doing nothing must have been the right decision, and maybe it still was, but apparently it's possible for Finn to be killed if you choose that.) We're told Cassidy was injured, not that she was killed. So... is it possible Sean's alive and just lost an eye? Please???
Fuck. Daniel's gone. He'd have stayed in the room with Sean if Sean were injured but still alive, right? It's still possible that Sean survived (wouldn't they be less ambiguous about it if he had died?), but Daniel definitely believes that he's dead.
I love Sean, I love Sean, this is the worst. Fuck, what about Lyla? She doesn't know. Will we be able to contact her as Daniel? Nooooo, I really don't want to have to tell her what happened, if it turns out Sean has been killed.
Okay, it looks from the stat screen as if Sean probably gets fucked in every scenario? So, even if Sean is dead (please don't be dead, I love you and I need more of your relationship with Daniel!), it might not be because I played badly, at least.
The person in the 'next episode' preview is too far away to be sure whether it's Sean or an older Daniel. I'm extremely nervous. And, whatever Sean's condition, he and Daniel have definitely been separated, which is very bad.
Fic I need to write: Daniel travelling with only his hallucination of Sean for company.
Next episode's out in August! I get so excited about these releases and then spend the entirety of each episode going 'I'M SO TENSE, THIS IS UNBEARABLE.'

We'll see! I'm not sure if I'll actually write the fic, because I think I might struggle with Daniel's perspective, but maybe I'll at least give it a try.

My main complaint (my only technical complaint, really) is that these installments are so episodic, with presumable weeks or months between them, so it's difficult to track where the characters are sometimes. As in, Daniel gets really upset in my playthrough about Sean spending all of his time with Cassidy--but I kept having Sean prioritise Daniel (skipping the haircut, checking in with Daniel before going swimming at the party), so whatever Daniel is complaining about happened off screen.
I figured I'd like Finn more than I did. His actions at the climax were frustrating because I had Sean say, repeatedly and in no uncertain terms, no. We are not exploiting Daniel to steal. I also didn't think I'd like Cassidy so much but she grew on me. I still had Sean friendzone her, though. (My intent was to friendzone them both but the game didn't give me a choice re: Finn after I said no to his zany scheme.)
I wish Sean was gentler with Daniel. I don't know if it would be effective! I'm not an expert with kids. But there are times that I feel Daniel would be better suited explaining himself gently rather than getting frustrated, and maybe that would go over better. But Daniel immediately going into Merrill's house was just. CHILDREN.
I keep having Sean try to be a good role model (not getting high in front of Daniel, trying to teach him responsibility) but it feels like the game can and will really undercut you there sometimes. This episode wasn't as stressful as the last one, though.

anyway that's all until August, I really hope Sean is just injured, although I can't imagine he'll be able to get timely medical treatment in his condition. And that TEASER. WHO IS THAT. ... part of me really hopes it's grown up Daniel and we spend the next two episodes seeing the fallout of Sean's influence but I also don't want Sean to be axed from the story!

That's a good point; Daniel was always my priority as well, so, yes, his frustration at Sean's neglect didn't really fit with what was actually happening in the episode.
I ultimately enjoyed Finn more than I was expecting to; I thought he'd just be The Guy Who's Stealing Daniel Away, so I was delighted to find that he and Sean had a warm relationship. And his flirting was fun. But, yes, I told you you weren't allowed to use my brother for theft, dude!
I wish Sean was gentler with Daniel.
There are so many moments where I go 'NO, SEAN, YOU COULD APPROACH THIS SO MUCH BETTER.' But he's an incredibly stressed-out sixteen-year-old, so I can understand where it comes from, at least.

YEP. I looked up the scene. It's Sean's first time, and he's kind of closed-off and uncomfortable afterwards and says 'sorry it sucked', which I like enormously; it's a lot more interesting than 'and it was a PERFECT TRANSCENDENTAL EXPERIENCE'.
