Posting On LIS2 Ep4 Release Day In Honour Of Sean Diaz, My Favourite Fictional Sk8er Boy.

On warm days, I've started occasionally wandering down to the local skatepark to watch the goings-on. I've never been a skater myself (I can't even balance on my feet; I'd have absolutely no chance on a skateboard), but it's sort of heartwarming to see people doing something they're passionate about and spending time with their friends. I've always sort of thought of skateparks as scary places, but they're not, are they? They're just a kind of playground for people who can balance.

There are, however, three problems with this:

- I don't understand any of the etiquette. One kid's skateboard went flying far from the skating area, and I tried to pick it up to return it to him, and he rushed up to me in a panic, going, 'NO NO NO NO NO, I'm measuring the distance!'

- There's a sign that says 'SENIORS NIGHT FOR OVER 30s', which is extremely rude.

- Whenever skateboards are within my field of view, Avril Lavigne's 'SHE WAS A SK8ER BOY SHE SAID SEE YOU L8R BOY' is playing non-stop in my head.


A while ago, I saw someone asking 'how does your OTP sleep together, literally?' and I tried to come up with answers for my assorted Dangan Ronpa ships. I'm envisioning a scenario where they're not actually in a relationship but, OH NO, there's only one bed. If you have answers for your own ships, I'd love to hear them!

- Naegi sleeps alone in the bed. Ikusaba stands by the door and guards it all night. He wakes without ever knowing she was there at all.

- Komaeda sleeps happily snuggled up to Hinata. Hinata lies awake all night with an increasing sense of dread.

- Hinata and Koizumi go to sleep on opposite sides of the bed, facing away from each other, but they end up cuddled up during the night. They get very embarrassed and blushy after waking up.

- Hinata offers to share the bed; Kuzuryuu sleeps on the floor.

- Kaede's expecting Rantaro to be awkward about sharing a bed with a girl and keep a careful distance between them, but he's way more casual about it than she expected - he's not hitting on her, but he's also not making any particular effort to avoid brushing against her, like they're friends who know each other considerably better than they actually do. She's a little flustered. She doesn't mind, exactly; she just wasn't expecting this!

- Kaito talks very loudly about how they're ONLY SHARING A BED OUT OF NECESSITY, NO HOMO. Shuichi is trying very, very hard to ignore the intense and building feelings in his chest.

Sk8r Boi is now playing in my head, too! (It happens weirdly often despite the fact that there are no skate parks where I live.)

Cage would offer to sleep on the floor, and Rita would scoff at him for offering something that stupid (because it'd affect his preparedness for battle the next morning). She'd insist there was place on the bed for two, promptly lie down on her back, perfectly still, leaving enough space for him to do the same, and he would spend all night freaking out at how hyperaware he was of the way she feels, the way she smells, her every move, and not sleep at all.

This Rita/Cage scenario is PERFECT, both in the sense of being entirely accurate and in the sense of being extremely good.

Yep! I am, obviously, not good at balancing on my feet, but my older brother used to be into skating, and most skaters are pretty cool.

I'm glad you enjoyed them! Dangan Ronpa is an extremely murder-filled series, but it does have its charming moments.

Oh, you also ship Rantaro and Kaede! There don’t seem to be many people who like this ship. But yes, this is also perfect. Rantaro being all smooth about it just fits him so well.

I think Hinata/Koizumi would be adorable, but somehow I've never actually written it. Maybe it's a bit too functional for me to get inspired.

I love Rantaro/Kaede and the events of the game were extremely tough for me. In a way, they actually remind me of Sara and Keiji: the determined protagonist, the guy who's nice to her and seems laid-back but also gives the impression that he knows more than he's letting on, a little shadowy and secretive and hard to trust.

I know exactly what you mean. Writing pure fluff is so difficult for me, which is kinda amusing when you think about it ....

I actually stopped playing DR3 for some weeks after finishing the first part because I was sooo pissed. Huh, but you are right ... There are similarities. No wonder I was immediately drawn to both ships.
