You Want Me To Poke You In The Eyes On The Roof?
I continue to thunder through Psych at an alarming rate. How am I halfway through season three? I've been watching this show for about a fortnight!
I would watch Shawn's film about a motorcycle that comes to life at night and solves crime and does sweet wheelies.
When a former classmate assumes Shawn and Gus are dating:
Gus: We are not dating.
Shawn: You kidding? He was voted most likely to succeed. You think he's gonna date me?
Shawn's actions fall so consistently into my 'Shawn is in love with Gus; Gus has no idea' headcanon that I'm starting to think the show was written with that in mind.
Is... is Chief Vick instructing Juliet to date Lassiter? It's good to know a character in the show is supporting me in my shipping. (Juliet, alas, interprets it as 'find Lassiter a girlfriend'.)
Holy shit, the ending of 'Daredevils!!' shattered my heart. I wasn't prepared for that. I really liked the way Shawn approached it. Goddammit, I think I like Shawn.
Shawn was already reminding me of Nathan Drake in some aspects, and then 'The Greatest Adventure in the History of Basic Cable' was basically just an Uncharted game from start to finish. I want to speculate on how Shawn and Nate would interact, but I can't envision it. I feel they'd just repel each other like matching poles of a magnet. They wouldn't be able to get close enough to have a conversation.
'Gus Walks Into a Bank': Shawn is a bit of a coward most of the time, and yet his automatic reaction to learning Gus is a hostage in a bank hold-up is 'try to run into the bank'. The Shawn-and-Gus relationship continues to be my favourite thing.
Shawn's so upset!
I'm glad Gus had that 'I love you, Shawn' moment. It's very, very clear that Shawn adores Gus, but I feel I can't always tell how much Gus actually likes Shawn.
(And Shawn has no idea what to do! He can't handle sincere expressions of emotion at all. You're so bad at feelings, Shawn. This is exactly why you're not going to end up with Gus romantically; you'll never be able to express yourself to him, and he's never going to realise how you feel if he doesn't have it spelled out.)

I would watch that too!
That line! So many feelings about that line!
That was the first episode of the show I saw! My mom never got that into the show, but she watched a random episode and immediately assumed Shawn and Gus were already in a relationship and was very confused that they weren't.
He is so bad at feelings! And I'm pretty sure that if Gus was all "I love you, romantically, and am in fact in love with you, and would like to be your boyfriend", Shawn would laugh nervously and make a joke about looking for hidden cameras while secretly pinching himself because he's had that dream so many times!

Oh, wow, that's a very impactful first episode to come in on!

This is delightful.

You're extremely correct and it's extremely frustrating. SHAWN. SHAWN, PLEASE STOP SABOTAGING YOURSELF. (Also, this is cracking me up because Gus is one of the few characters who actually might phrase it exactly like that.)

He's claimed another victim! Welcome to the club. We have... pineapples?
You know, I've seen a fic or two that cast their relationship in D/S terms, but I can never quite picture it myself. Shawn is always dragging Gus into things, but he's also vastly more desperate for Gus's attention! How do you neatly summarize that dynamic in terms of power exchange?
I don't understand how this is so true. They're both kind of chaotically charming with insecurities underneath, but I just... I can't make it work. Or maybe my difficulty is because they exist in just slightly incompatible genres of irreverent adventure?
...Actually I can imagine their paths crossing in exactly one circumstance: Shawn, on vacation far from Santa Barbara, stumbles upon the vast numbers of bodies Nate has left in his wake and is just like, okay, but see, I only do one of these at a time. Or okay, sometimes two, but -- look, half a dozen tops. This just isn't my thing -- back me up on this, Gus!

Oh, wow, suddenly I really want this. (And I love your voice for Shawn!) But I suppose it's hard to deal with the tonal clash between Psych, where murder is a major thing, and Uncharted, where you can murder twenty guys before breakfast while still remaining sympathetic and loveable. If you put Nate in the Psych universe, suddenly he's a murderer! And that doesn't work; Nate's not a murderer! He's just... someone who... kills... a lot of people... incidentally.

Heee, exactly! (And thank you! I'm not sure I could ever manage Shawn's point of view -- it's the 80s pop culture references -- but it's fun to try to imagine.)

I don't watch this but I just wanted to sympathise. I am also helpless every time I pick up something new because my brain keeps saying GO F A S T E R
