I Hate My Dumb Heart For Making Me Feel Things.

I've been rewatching Gravity Falls, but TURNS OUT I NEVER FINISHED IT THE FIRST TIME AROUND, and I was not braced for that incredible, horrifying multi-part finale at all. What a fantastic ending.

The shift in the opening sequence for the finale is genuinely terrifying. I would have been so upset if I'd seen it as a child!

If you're curious, the normal opening (which is fairly unsettling and cool in itself) is here; the finale opening is here.

I love Dipper and Mabel. What good kids. Their relationship is incredibly endearing; they love each other so much!

There's a moment that hits me really hard, when a giant robot grabs one of them in each fist, and as they're lifted into the air they're not trying to fight against the robot; they're trying to hold on to each other. You can see it just after the 1.40 mark in this clip. Just a second of animation, but it says so much about these two.

Mabel is a delight, but Dipper's probably my favourite character: this awkward, anxious, selfconscious, soft-hearted kid who takes things too seriously and gets really excited about knowledge and would do anything for his sister and is struggling with a completely unattainable crush. He may be terrified, but he'll never back down if someone's in danger.

Although of course the actual best character is Waddles.

I was very touched when Mabel found herself trapped in a cycle of unwanted dates with Gideon, and Dipper saw how upset she was and offered to break up with Gideon on her behalf. He's an extremely good brother!

Stan's dynamic with Mabel is also pretty charming. It hadn't really struck me the first time I watched this show, but he's so fond of her.

I think Gravity Falls is one of the best shows I've ever watched. Not just one of the best children's cartoons. One of the best shows.

I sort of feel I should try to cross Gravity Falls over with Life Is Strange, just because they're both set in tiny Oregon towns where weird things happen. I'll... probably need more of a concept than that.

I never actually saw Gravity Falls. But if you want someone who knows things about Oregon, I'm here. (And I actually went to the Oregon Vortex as a kid!)

You're welcome!

The concept looks cool but I'm having a hard time with the art style. I heard a bit about Gravity Falls recently - one of the kids at work was telling me that he had bought some of the Gravity Falls comic books and just received them. He was then drawing some of his own comics of various styles. Now I understand the context a bit more!

Pssh, I only ever make or wish for crossovers on very vague concepts like that. It's probably why they never come to fruition usually.

Heck, didn't I say I wanted Erased/Life is Strange fic because they were both about weird time shenanigans? At least in your version they're both set in Oregon and not in a different country.

Other ridiculous reasons for crossovers I've written or wanted to write based on really vague concepts:

D.Gray-Man/Kingdom Hearts: Both have characters who play cards.
Demon's Lexicon/Supernatural: Both have demons and possession.
Life is Strange/Blackwell Series: One has a place called Blackwell. The other has a person called Blackwell.
Assassin's Creed/Final Fantasy VIII: Both have ways of visiting somebody else's past!

And really, most crossovers are probably like this anyway when you really get down to it. Exhibit A:

Harry Potter crossovers: Other series has character between age 11-17. Or maybe even just: Has characters. Since half of them get de-aged for it anyway!

Or Naturo crossovers, many of which seem to exist purely out of "series B has character that would be cooler as a ninja", lol.

I'm sure most crossovers start with a vague concept. And I love crossovers!

I went through a GF fandom phase a few years ago and just spent like four months being very thirsty for Stan Pines. Everyone kept being all "oh yeah that zombie episode blah blah blah" and I'm just "yeah... the zombie episode... >.>"

I really need to cycle back around at some point, I started and abandoned a canon divergent fic where Weirdmaggedon never happened so Ford went through with kicking Stan out so Wendy kidnapped him so they could go find Stan and bring him home, and it was gonna be really good and I'd love to finish it.

I admit it's at least partially moments of Hunkle Stan + the fanartists do a really wonderful job with him + he is all kinda my type (I'm an arm guy and he's got the guns). Speaking of, there's a Grunkles dating sim you might be interested in just for the sillyness of it (you can date Stan or Ford; the sheer force of how much I just flat out didn't care about dating Ford actually overwhelmed my usual completionist tendencies with short games).

Also as per usual when you get into a fandom I've written for, -slides my GF fanfic in your direction-.

I frickin' love Gravity Falls. I have a Bill Cipher decal on my car (I'll take pictures!) but I totally left that series with a disturbing affection for Stan/Ford and have upset my viewing partner greatly when I told her. Ah well.
