Koromaru And Akihiko In Ferocious Competition For The Title Of Goodest Boy.

(EDIT: I forgot to mention what this entry is about! It's about Persona 3, you'll be astonished to hear.)

AKIHIKO PRACTISING TERRIBLE PICK-UP LINES ALONE IN HIS ROOM. 'Y'know, the Beef Bowl place... Hey... M-Maybe we could "meat" up there!' What a loser. I love him.

Maya, it strikes me as unwise to send the game developers the logs of your in-game conversations with a teenager about how hot your student is.

Shinjiro believes he caused someone's death and he's coping terribly with it and he is immediately much more interesting to me.

I don't think Ken is old enough to consent to fighting his way up a giant tower full of monsters while repeatedly shooting himself in the head.

Can't believe the dog turned me down when I invited him to the movies.

Wait, apparently you can take the dog to the movies, but it was on a day when I was out with Kenji? Ugh, I knew I should have turned down Kenji's invitation.

I'm going to reload my save. This will not stand.

Okay! Koromaru and I have now been to the cinema together and all is well in the world. Well, we got kicked out of the cinema, so not all is well, but I'm still extremely pleased to have made the attempt. (The dog was very upset until I promised to get him the film on DVD.)

'Have you ever thought of what you're living for?' Junpei asks, and I choose 'No' without hesitation. Kosuke has never thought about anything.

I can't work out whether Keisuke is supposed to be this unsettling. His portraits are absolutely terrifying. (Also, I was not aware that this game would include a Keisuke when I named the protagonist Kosuke. I'm glad Keisuke isn't a major character; that would be very confusing.)

It cracks me up that a question mark appears over Akihiko's head whenever Junpei starts rambling about Chidori. Akihiko just doesn't understand romance! It doesn't cross his radar at all! It's delightful.

For anyone following along without playing: yes, I did open this entry talking about him practising pick-up lines. This was solely because he was challenged to a 'picking people up' contest and he's really competitive; it would never occur to him to try to pick someone up otherwise.

(He failed to pick anyone up, but I'd sort of love to see what would have happened if he'd succeeded and was left going 'wait, what happens now? what are you supposed to do when you flirt with someone and they reciprocate? do you... do you train together? do you challenge them to a boxing match?')

I agree, this seems dubious.

(Ken was in my party pretty much all the time. He, Aigis and Koromaru were my "characters I like/wtf is this party" party. He is very squishy but I found him rather useful! The funniest thing I found about Ken when I first played this game is that the child is the one running around using all the "kill rush", "fatal end" style skills, just for extra "uh, are you old enough for this?" flavour).

(The dog was very upset until I promised to get him the film on DVD.)

I can't believe the cinema staff wanted to leave Koromaru hanging like that!

Obviously I don't know exactly where you are in the game (though I can make some guesses based on a few of your points), but have your opinions on characters changed much? (I'm going to ask you this rather often in this game.)

I actually forgot about Keisuke! His portaits are a tad unsettling. But he is not Kenji, so it's all okay.

Akihiko just doesn't understand romance! It doesn't cross his radar at all! It's delightful.

If it's not boxing or protein or Shinji, Akihiko has no time for that shit.

I mentioned I'd been playing 13 Sentinels on one of your last posts! I've now finished it, and would heartily recommend it to you when you finish Persona 3 if you've got a PS4. Apparently the sales are not great in the West probably because it's very very niche, but it's very, very you and I think you'd love it. Also it has a surprising amount of identity crisis and/or people who are having a mental crisis, which you tend to like as a theme as much as me. It also has a lot of different protagonists and it's all told out of order so you may experience it in a very different way to other people and you have to piece the plot together as you go (think ZTD fragments, is probably the closest example, but with a lot more protagonists instead of 3).

Here is a trailer to hype you up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b35MVzhr7K8

I'm glad that you agree with me as to which makes the weirdest combination!

I hope you get to have a lovely belated Christmas get together with your family at some stage! We were one of the few areas still in tier 3 at Christmas, but this was about as bad an idea as I thought it was at the time given we are, once again, sitting in the top 10 covid areas of the country and the situation at the local hospital is really not very good (as our hospital serves 2 areas, and one of those spent several weeks not only in the top 10, but at the very top of it with sky high numbers).

Gotta say, escaping into videogames and books this past year has been really good for mental health, imo! (Even if it involves characters whose mental health isn't so good!).
