I Think I May Have Joined A Cult.
I’m into October in Persona 3!
Delighted by Cynical Tough Guy Shinjiro pretending to be asleep when people come into the room so they won't catch him watching cooking shows. I seem to be fondly going 'what a loser' a lot as I play this game, but, in my defence, it's full of losers.
Also endearing: how fond he is of the dog. He reassures Koromaru that he doesn't blame him! He makes him food!
Aigis sneaking into our room to watch us sleep, meanwhile, is TERRIFYING.
I knew there was a Hope-and-Snow situation going on with Ken and Shinjiro! (I'm pretty into Shinjiro responding to Ken's 'I'm gonna kill you!' with 'Do it.')
WHAT THE FUCK, I WAS JUST STARTING TO REALLY LIKE HIM
You bastards have been waiting for this entry, haven't you?
Riona: A CHARACTER IN PERSONA 3 GOT SHOT DEAD JUST WHEN I WAS STARTING TO REALLY WARM UP TO HIM
RD: Play murder games, win murder prizes
Akihiko talking to Shinji's portrait and then saying, 'Say something, will ya?' is extremely upsetting.
I go around talking to everyone in the dorms each evening, and I automatically ran towards the bar where Shinjiro usually is and then remembered he wouldn't be there!
It's really interesting to see a Persona team trying to deal with the loss of one of their own. It makes sense that this would come up; they're a bunch of teenagers who keep going into dangerous situations, after all.
'Yesterday was a terrible tragedy. However, you must still go to school today' made me feel awful for these kids. They just have to keep going on with their regular lives, and nobody but them knows what really happened.
A part of me is very curious about how the Investigation Team or the Phantom Thieves would handle losing a member of the team. (I can't bring myself to decide on who they'd be grieving, though!)
The Investigation Team in particular would probably have a very hard time. They haven't known grief in the way SEES have; I think Junpei's the only human member of SEES who, as far as we know, hasn't experienced a hard loss before this point. Yosuke is grieving Saki, of course, but his loss is tied up in the investigation and he hasn't really had a chance to process it.
Come to think of it, we do get to see the Investigation Team react to the death of someone they collectively care about, and they react by potentially murdering a guy, so, yes, I'm going to consider 'they would not cope very well' an accurate assessment.
Akihiko's coping either pretty well or very badly, and I'm fascinated by how hard it is to tell the difference. (Fingers crossed for 'very badly'.)
Uh, Nozomi, you okay, buddy?

Don't hate him because he's beautiful.

My condolences to your wife; I remember you said Shinjiro was one of her favourites!

You're going to love the next few months of the game.

Even if I'm sad about Shinjiro, it's a really interesting plot development; I'm surprised they'd introduce the ability to avoid it in Portable!
I can't get my head around what playing as a female character could possibly have to do with it. Seduce Shinjiro into going along on the mission that night??

This is great news for me and possibly less good news for the characters.
