My rampage through Person of Interest continues! I'm up to episode 2.18, 'All In'.

'One Percent': Reese shoved a guy having an allergic reaction down onto the sofa by his neck, then pushed a tube down his throat while whispering reassurance to him, and I might be kind of into it?

Also possible the guy was into it. I've been going 'this Totally Not Facebook guy definitely wants to bang Reese' ever since he approached Reese at the party.

I wrote that before he took Reese to Russia on a date. Wow.

As of the ending of 'Booked Solid' - the exchange about staying in the hotel another night - I can finally say with confidence that Reese and Zoe are definitely having enthusiastic sex every time they encounter each other, as they should, and I'm very pleased.

I really hope there's fanfiction about the first time Reese and Zoe have sex and, more importantly, the moment Finch realises what he's listening to through Reese's earpiece.

I knew before watching that Root/Shaw was a big pairing, although I had no idea who Root or Shaw were. Now that I've learnt their first interaction is 'Root ties Shaw to a chair and threatens her with torture while they both get off on it', I'm sort of delighted by its popularity. Good to know this is a fandom of taste.

(I double-checked that Reese/Zoe was in the top ten pairings on AO3 before being willing to declare this 'a fandom of taste'. Pleased to report it is!)

It's pretty cute that Reese and Finch go to the cinema together when they're not busy saving people.

I love the tiny, private smile Reese sometimes allows himself when he's starting to warm up to one of their numbers.

My household is still watching occasional Malcolm in the Middle episodes while I tear through Person of Interest, which is a bit disconcerting. That is a very different Reese.

I wrote down that line about being into the tube thing, then sat back and went '...actually, now that I put it into words, I think the most surprising thing about this is the fact that I'm mildly surprised by it.'

Reese went 'you need to lie low' and Fakerburg went 'I KNOW THE PERFECT PLACE' and whisked him off to St Petersburg. Reese went 'what are we doing here?', Fakerburg went 'they do great pierogi,' Reese went 'you flew me??? halfway around the world???? for fried dumplings?????' and I was left going 'Reese, this is a date! It's a weird date, and I don't think you're really into this guy, but it's a date.'

I haven't read them, not my thing, but I think several stories have been written about this 'date' and often, Finch's reaction.

It's been great to watch their dynamic develop from 'tense, wary working relationship' to 'friends who would do anything to protect each other'.

So I saw your most recent entry and it reminded me of your previous entry and how it took me on an emotional journey that I now wish to share with you.

That is a very different Reese," and think - cool! One of the kids from Malcolm in the Middle grew up to play a leading man in a J.J. Abrams action series!

Through the magic of Wikipedia, I investigate further. Because, you know, trust but verify. I learn a few things. 1) Michael Emerson is on Person of Interest. I am now slightly more interested in its existence. 2) Jim Caviezel, who plays Reese, was never actually a character in Malcolm in the Middle. He is, however, loudly anti-abortion and a vocal proponent of QAnon.

So, you know. That was my evening, how was yours?

That was an emotional journey I wasn't entirely prepared to take, but hopefully it won't shake how relentlessly I love this character who happens to have Jim Caviezel's face!

(I was incredibly confused for a moment by how you managed to go on this journey in the first place when I hadn't said anything about shared actors, and then I realised you'd taken 'That is a very different Reese' to mean 'that is John Reese in a very different role' rather than 'that is a very different character named Reese'.)

Yeah, I don't actually know the names of the characters in Malcolm in the Middle. I think one of them is named Malcolm. And he's played by Bryan Cranston!
