We Can Give Them Tonight.
Six episodes of Person of Interest to go! This close to the end, I think it makes sense to pop all my notes under a spoiler cut, rather than trying to determine what's a spoiler and what isn't.
'Truth Be Told': It's interesting that Finch asks Reese 'he's your old boss? you mean he knows you?' and Reese's response is 'he knew me at one time'. Because Finch's concern that Reese might be recognised is still relevant, but Reese's old boss doesn't know the person Reese is now, and, to Reese, that's an important distinction.
Reese gets so agitated about protecting their number from the CIA, too, as if that could somehow undo the things he himself did in his CIA days.
Reese subtly struggling to stay focused after learning he killed the number's brother! This episode is really messing him up and I love it.
'6,741': GO GO SHAW GET OUT OF THERE. I've missed her!
I love that Shaw's strategy for getting in touch with the rest of Team Machine is 'act like you're about to murder someone in the hope the Machine will send them to stop you'.
Of course Root and Shaw break everything around them when they're having sex.
'I couldn't stand you when we first met. You wouldn't stop bugging me.' This is why I struggle a little with Root/Shaw; I tend to have a hard time with romance storylines where one side won't take no for an answer until they eventually get a yes. Which isn't a moral judgement on the ship or the people who ship it at all, of course; it's just a matter of personal taste!
Shaw's plight is awful and fascinating and creates a lot of scope for fanfiction.
'Shotseeker': I love Reese's unwavering, ferocious loyalty.
Fusco calls Team Machine 'the nerd herd' and I love it.
Some nice Root material in 'Shotseeker'! She's probably the member of Team Machine I'm least attached to, but I really like her dynamic with Finch.
I have to wonder whether I'm just less attached to Root than to the rest of the team because Root's the team member who's least close to Reese. If I really love a character, I do sometimes catch myself essentially ranking other characters by how much I like their interactions with my favourite. It's no surprise that Shaw, who has my favourite dynamic with Reese, is my favourite character after Reese. I'm a very biased person!
Come to think of it, maybe it's just that Root was my favourite antagonist in Person of Interest, and I miss her being in that role. Or I'm overthinking things and it's as simple as 'I prefer the other characters because we spend more time with them'; Root has a less defined role than the others and tends to dip in and out of the show. I do think I'm liking her more in season five, when she's getting more consistent screentime.
(...and interacting more with Reese. I remain a very biased person.)
NO, FUSCO
'QSO': Reese has been sitting outside Fusco's hospital room for hours, and that's very cute.
Shaw is so fucked up by her experiences that she assumes her reality is a simulation? Intriguing. We're getting towards the end of the show, though, and I'm slightly afraid we'll never get the Shaw reunion with the rest of the team that I'm craving.
I enjoyed it when Reese covered a guy's mouth with his hand, held a knife to his own lips and whispered 'shhh', but by this point I feel that almost goes without saying. (It wasn't even intended to be a threat! He was trying to help the guy! He just doesn't know how not to be threatening!)

This seems like a solid strategy lol!
(I've been making some progress in season 3, and Shaw is really growing on me!)

This is the FUNNIEST and also sounds like an A+++ idea tbh.
