Negotiating Our Places In The Afterlife.

I rammed my knee into my desk, and I tried to console myself in the pain by going 'it's just like I'm a minor Person of Interest antagonist and Reese has shot me in the knee'.

Three episodes of Person of Interest to go! Here are my notes up to episode 5.10, 'The Day the World Went Away'.

'Reassortment' is a very weird episode to watch post-2020.

I'm really sad that Fusco broke up with Reese!

'Sotto Voce': The Voice is easily the scariest Person of Interest antagonist and I was not braced for his return.

I love Elias calmly murdering the guy and then going 'come on, Harold, you must have known I'd do something like this.'

This is a great episode for the Reese-and-Fusco dynamic! We've come so far from the two of them nearly killing each other when they first met.

My girl Shaw! Only a few episodes to go, but it's good to see her back. Nice work from Root there.

'Sotto Voce' seemed like a very stressful episode to me, but, in retrospect, I was feeling mildly ill while watching it and hadn't yet realised. Maybe it was less stressful than I thought? Maybe sometimes I think I'm watching a tense episode of television and it's actually just gastrointestinal distress.

Finch accepting he's probably not going to survive this but worrying about whether there's any chance his friends will! 'The Day the World Went Away' gets straight down to the business of breaking my heart.

'It's good to have you back home,' Finch says to Shaw, and that's very cute.

Awww, it's also cute that being with Team Machine after a lifetime spent hiding is the first time Root's felt she belonged somewhere.

I've previously said, 'I love that the common thread between all the members of the team is that they would kill or die for Finch,' and it's interesting to see Finch struggling with that. How do you cope when you're in a helpless position and all you can do is watch everyone else sacrificing themselves for you?

In a show full of skilled killers, having Finch as a character who's essential to the team but has absolutely no combat ability is a nice balancing element.

Elias's death is an odd moment; it's telegraphed by the music, but the death itself is so abrupt. Without the music, it would have been a really shocking moment. The music starting up a few seconds before the death itself makes the whole experience slightly disconcerting; it was weird to go 'I think from this music that Elias might be about to die??' before even seeing the threat that killed him.

Root has some really interesting philosophical ideas about the Machine's understanding of them enabling them to continue existing, in a way.

Root steering blind with her foot while shooting at a car behind them is incredible. I don't blame Finch for looking terrified.

Oh, it's fascinating to see Finch snap in the interrogation room. Just a slight change in his expression, in the way he speaks, and he's genuinely frightening.

Oh, God, I hate that Root died without any of the others there. But it's so fitting that the Machine chose her voice.

I suppose the Machine must have been there for Root when she died, at least. Nobody can take that away from her.

I can't imagine how all this is going to end and I'm scared.

I’m so alarmed right now.

That’s true, you don’t. However! Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ will have questions.

I may lack the knowledge to personally appreciate your descent into Person of Interest, but I'm glad it's given you the strength to get through hard times!

I think.

I can see that this is literally everyone's favorite sentence, and it's mine too. xD Because every time I come up with stuff like that I feel clever and amused, and it does make me feel better. :D

"I'm not talking to you."

Chills, total chills down my spine, every time.
