rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (never leave us again)

Farewell, Americaland.

We fly home this evening! I have to say, I'm going to miss being in a country in which ordering lemonade means that you're going to get something with actual lemon in it. (I am not, however, going to miss the overabundance of corn syrup in everything. What on Earth, America? I didn't even know it was possible to make fudge sweeter!)

I have really enjoyed this holiday! I've developed a very good opinion of the people of California; the people we've encountered (with the exception of the angry man on the street who started yelling at me for no apparent reason) have generally seemed to be polite and intelligent (sorry, Jeremy Clarkson). I got to meet [livejournal.com profile] livii and [livejournal.com profile] deviousli, who were awesome! I am, however, missing the cats and the similarly awesome people in England, so it'll be nice to get home. General good wishes for the plane journey would be appreciated.

(We saw Jennifer Saunders and Adrian Edmondson in a bookshop. I hovered indecisively and then ran away. LOOK, I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE ETIQUETTE FOR APPROACHING FAMOUS PEOPLE IS. Apart from meeting the Top Gear boys, in which case the etiquette is going to be I AM GIVING YOU A HUG WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT.)

More importantly: happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] squeemu and [livejournal.com profile] cane_tie! I am writing Jack/Fran/Balthier for the two of you; it probably won't be finished by the end of the day, but give me a kick if it's not up within the week.

good wishes!

So glad you had a great time and that America was not as depicted by Doctor Clarkson. Apart from the Angry Man, who sounds somewhat bizarre.

Hope the journey back goes okay! And that you don't, y'know, get kidnapped by Evil!James May and his flying washing machine halfway accross the Atlantic.

One; YAY YOU ARE COMING HOME
Two; Good luck on the flight home.
Three; YAY BIRFDAY TWINZ!
Four; YAY JACK/FRAN/BALTHIER!

:D ILU.

The corn syrup is a bit of a pain. Possible to avoid, but not without considerable effort at times. It is also more expensive to avoid. bleh.

It is good you have enjoyed yourself! And that you do not seem to have run into many of the completely crazy-in-a-bad-way people that I know are out there!

[identity profile] wanttobeatree.livejournal.com 2007-07-31 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Good luck on your flight! Eyeing the time difference, there is a small glimmer of possibility that we may both be in the air AT THE SAME TIME.

Which isn't really all that thrilling, but it sprang to mind.

(you can't escape the lemon-dans-drinks 'round my neck of the woods. it's awful. I keep drinking seeds.)

Good luck for the plane! I suffer massively with that particular fear, too, so appreciate what you're going through; have you considered squeezing the shit out of some kind of good luck charm? I haven't flown since we came back from Toronto over a year ago, but this seems to have somehow made my Fear worse, which, I don't even know. Anyway this is all nonsense but GLUCK :D

I once found myself in a lift with Rik Mayall. I was with my dad too, who said "I'm terribly sorry, but you look very familiar," knowing full well who he was. Mayall said "Perhaps we're neighbours," and smiled, and we all had a nice chat.

And next time you are coming to the Midwest, yes? To split your time between Squeemu/Baco, Jantalaimon and I, yes?

Enjoy your flight back! May it be filled with wonderful fiction!

Good luck with the flight. :D

Adrian Edmondson? Didn't he play with Travis/Supergrass (one of them, anyway) at TGOTP? He probably met the boys, so you should've hugged him. My logic is flawless.

[identity profile] talcat.livejournal.com 2007-07-31 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
He did! I think it was him who got blown over!

[identity profile] talcat.livejournal.com 2007-07-31 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Good luck! Be Safe.

GENERAL WELL-WISHING! I'm glad you had such a fabbo time :D

*squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee*

OMG Jennifer Saunders and Ade Edmondson!!! When, where? Which book did they buy, what were they talking about????

*spasm*

[identity profile] wolfenkahlon.livejournal.com 2007-07-31 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! You are returning to these shores! Note: I say here you are returning because you are and your flight will not even be boring because you will be writing fic *hint* *hint*.

I thought the etiquette for meeting the Top Gear boys involved kidnap? And sharing with your friends of course.

[identity profile] strangeumbrella.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
GOOD LUCK ON YOUR PLANE. You did it once; you can do it again! My logic is flawless. (Also, I love Adrian Edmondson, oh my god, although I probably would have run away as well. Running-away solidarity! Or something.)

[identity profile] reipan.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 10:48 am (UTC)(link)
Good luck flying! (And you should have glomped them. ...not that I actually know much about these particular famous people. But you should've done it just to see what would have happened.)

[identity profile] dracothelizard.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
ZOMG ADRIAN AND JENNIFER? AWESOME.

Don't think I would've got up to 'em either because I would've made an utter arse of myself and wouldn't have got further than 'you're awesome and hilarious and please continue like that'.

[identity profile] squeemu.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Eeeeee Jack/Fran/Balthier fic! Birthdays are awesome. I mean, uh, I know it's not posted yet, but just the fact that you're writing is awesome. YAY! I am eagerly awaiting it.

I'm glad to hear California treated you well! And even gladder to hear that your flight back was awesome.
