I May Even Like Owen A Little. Don't Tell Anyone.

I am actually really excited for the next episode of Torchwood! I wasn't expecting this at all; I was fully expecting to have the same 'oh, it's so awful, but I'll still watch it every week just because it's there' feeling I had towards the end of the first series, but 'Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang' was a hundredfold improvement on 2006 and I am now very hopeful about what is to come. The makers have so clearly listened to the complaints the fans had about the 2006 series - well, they'd have to, really, because Torchwood's target audience appears to be Internet fangirls - and the programme is many, many times better because of it.

Of course, I suppose it could disappoint me within the next few episodes. But there is also a fair chance that it may not! I hope it doesn't, because I love being in a fangirly mood.

Also, I am developing real affection for the Torchwood team (which, as I have a tendency to send characters I like into Silent Hill and every single one of them is a prime Silent Hill candidate, is probably not good news for them), and I was made terribly gleeful when I discovered that we can now read their e-mails seriously how awesome is that? (There's a good chance the link won't work if you're outside the UK, because the BBC often blocks online content off from non-Britishers, I'm afraid. Also, spoilers for yesterday's episode.)

Probably my favourite of the e-mails:

Ianto

I am still getting Jack's Out Of Office every time we send round a round robin. I thought you were going to change it so it didn't do that.

SORT IT OUT IANTO
IANTO SORT IT OUT

cheers
Owen

OH, TORCHWOOD. All the alien-chasing and insanity, and you still have to wrestle with old-fashioned technical annoyances. (Also rather brilliant is the 'What Torchwood Were Up To During "The Sound of Drums"' mission report - and non-UKers should be able to read that, as it's copy-pasted from the official site onto an LJ community.)

(Seriously, someone must have sent the Torchwood team to Silent Hill by now, surely? It may quite possibly be the most obvious crossover in the world. I'm a little sorry that my crossover tag is 'insane crossovers' now, because on occasion the crossovers I talk about are clearly perfectly sane.)

The best thing about Torchwood last year was totally the website. THE PHOTOS OF IANTO AND LISA MADE ME VERY EMOTIONAL ;____; Also there were IM conversations between Jack and Ianto that implied sexytimes.

I love that that was sent to Jack.

Same problem over here. >(

...you do realise, of course, that what the Torchwood producers are essentially doing is writing the more ridiculous kinds of Torchwood fanfiction themselves?

Pff. The next thing you know, they'll have the cast set up Livejournal accounts, and then there'll really be nothing for it but a flamethrower.

Torchwood is what happens when a fan of a long-running slightly gay TV series grows up and is allowed to not only write that TV series but to make that epic spin-off AU that they always dreamed of become a reality.

I suppose I can only dream of this happening with me and TopGear...
:D

I want you to know that I'm at this moment putting in a work order for my boss. It reads as follows:

Ben

I am still getting a server error whenever I try to access the WOS from outside the IMU. I thought you were going to change it so it didn't do that.

SORT IT OUT BEN
BEN SORT IT OUT

cheers

You're clearly a bad influence :P.

I'm just Highly Amused that I can pull things like this at my work ^__^. Verily, it is a good job.
