adelate has a theory that Ruby possessed the girl after she left Sam's hotel room, which I think makes a lot of sense. It explains the 'Kelly'/'Chrissie' exchange and the lack of reaction when the girl opened the door to Dean and her unRubyish shriek when Sam attacked him. Also, when Sam addresses Ruby as 'Ruby' upon seeing her in the diner, that's quite artificial if Ruby's been in this body for a while; when two people are speaking and nobody else is around, there's not generally much cause to use names. Of course, it could just be a slightly clumsy way of informing the watchers that this is Ruby or an extension of Sam's peculiar habit of addressing Dean by his name in every other sentence, but what if addressing her as 'Ruby' is actually a way of saying 'I recognise and acknowledge that you are Ruby, rather than the girl I was with last night, and by the way can you maybe stop possessing people I've just had sex with? It retroactively makes the sex incredibly creepy and pretty much destroys any chance I might have had of a second night'? Maybe it doesn't say that last part, but if the Supernatural writers love me my theory that Ruby specifically selects her hosts just to annoy Sam will turn out to be true.

- Does this mean that Ruby is going to be doing a lot of body-jumping in this season? Because that could be very interesting.

- OH MAN I REALLY HOPE THERE'S AT LEAST ONE EPISODE IN WHICH RUBY AND DEAN ARE SHARING A BODY.

- I've been feeling pretty incapable of writing for the past month and a half, but I find myself sort of wanting to write about Sam and Ruby's four months travelling together. Ruby drives Sam mad, and he complains, of course, but privately he knows that he wouldn't be able to cope if he didn't have anyone annoying him.

- Is there fanfiction out there in which Sam totally wants to have sex with Ruby but he knows he can't because it would be a violation of the poor person she's possessing? That would be fascinating.

- SO APPARENTLY PRETTY MUCH ALL OF MY THOUGHTS AT THE MOMENT ARE ABOUT RUBY. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?

Sadly that can't happen, what with Sam and Dean's tattoos that prevent them from being possessed. It would be really cool to see a possessed Dean, though. :D

Blast, I forgot about the tattoos! (The makeup department clearly didn't, though; I was quite impressed by that.) That's such a shame, because I would love to see Jensen Ackles playing Ruby.

I know, I think he'd be just amazing as Ruby (or any demon for that matter). I was impressed they remembered the tattoo, too. :)

What about Ruby possessing BOBBY? Totally acceptable substitute.

I bet Bobby has anti-possession tattoos all over his body.

If Ruby was possessing Sam's girl when Dean and Bobby showed up, that means that Sam and Ruby had previously organised a whole conversation that they would have once Dean showed up. ('are you together' 'no he's my brother' 'i should go' 'yes' rah rah) Previously organised so Dean wouldn't realise Ruby was still alive and hanging out with Sam. In her underwear.
Which means Sam knew all along that Dean would come back and had prepared for it.

Yeah, that's the other reason I find Ruby possessing the girl from the beginning implausible: Sam isn't really that convincing a liar, and why would he know that Castiel was going to drag Dean back? I hope future episodes are going to make the exact Ruby situation clearer.

But the problem with Ruby possessing the girl AFTERWARDS is how would Sam know it was Ruby? She just stood there and he said 'Ruby'. Besides, Ruby suddenly showing up possessing the random girl from the hotelroom should've shocked Sam, shouldn't it? There'd be some 'why are you possessing this random girl I met last night, what the hell?'

She said, 'Pretty slick, Sam. Getting better all the time,' which I imagine was a bit of a giveaway. Plus it sounds like Ruby's been travelling with him for some time, so maybe he's used to her possessing random people around him. My theory is that she possesses all the girls he has sex with just to piss him off.

Well, we all know that all the girls Sam has sex with die, so maybe Ruby is like 'hey, let's not waste a corpse!'

We need to know more about this Ruby and Sam thing, because where did Ruby come from? Lilith said she'd sent Ruby far away, so I figured Ruby would've been sent back to hell or something.

I've got a theory that Ruby is going to have to body-jump a lot because otherwise Dean is going to notice that the same person is showing up in multiple places, and we rememeber the last time that happened (hello, Meg).

Yeah, I thought she might body-hop to throw Dean's suspicion off, too. I hope she does, because having a recurring character played by many different actors could be great.

You make me feel guilty, just a bit, about not thinking about these kind of things. I don't think about these things and then I write fic. Perhaps I simply don't care about the show as much as you, but I see the pretty and I want to write it. Hence, the resulting possibly cannonically inaccurate fic. And that's not even on the subject of Wincest.

Even so, I hope you'll read it. It is easy on the Wincest I say. An epic love story, but it depends how you squint.

Hee! There are different ways of watching things, really, and I just happen to enjoy rambling about my fandoms (as, er, you may have noticed). I probably wouldn't be going into it in this detail if I didn't like Ruby so much.

I WANT DEAN AND RUBY TO SHARE A BODY ONE EPISODE! THAT WOULD BE PURE CONCENTRATED AWESOME!

Also, there needs to be more fic mentioning the consent issues of having sex with possessed people. I can't be the only one who's thought of it.

...dammit that makes a lot of sense, actually. THIS TOTALLY DESTROYS MY 'RUBY IS COMFORTABLE WEARING HER UNDERWEAR IN FRONT OF SAM AND IS A TERRIBLE HOUSE GUEST' THEORY. Though Ruby picking her hosts just to annoy Sam is unbelievably awesome.

Also, I don't trust that angel. Too much ominousness and hurting people. And too like the demons with the possession and eyeball-melting.

I don't like new Ruby as much, although hopefully they'll either go for Insane Actress Swap of Awesome or she'll get more snarky and Ruby-ish and grow on me.

Winchesters having bad things happen and not telling each other is very bad in a very good I-want-to-see-where-this-goes way, and the "Good things do happen" conversation made me make squeaky, "Aw, Dean!" noises. And I'm very worried about Sam.

I agree with that theory, ie. that Ruby possessed the girl AFTER the motel. Earlier, it was just a random one night stand. I don't buy that Sam was expecting Dean to come back.
