They shouldn't be malicious! There's very little they can do!

Some free spyware removing programs:
Spybot Search and Destroy (http://www.spybot.com/en/download/) - Just don't install the TeaTimer - it's not malicious but it does eat up a lot of your CPU power
Lavasoft Ad-Aware (http://www.lavasoft.com/) - Will try to get you to pay, ignore it. Also it has a tendency to go mental over cookies, which are not malicious, but will do you no harm if you delete them (except that it will delete your Firefox history).
Spyware Blaster (http://www.download.com/SpywareBlaster/3000-8022_4-10196637.html) - Prevention rather than a cure - it just sits in the background and prevents things like this from happening.
