Way To Go, Self.

DEAR EVERYONE: shoebox_project was hacked, and I clicked the links the hacker posted, because I'm stupid, and apparently these links have been known to install keyloggers on clickers' computers, and I have run a virus scan but it has not detected anything, which is actually slightly less reassuring than running a scan and having it say 'yeah, you had a problem but now we have fixed it!', so, er.

SO THERE IS A CHANCE THAT SOMEBODY WILL HACK INTO MY LIVEJOURNAL AND DELETE ALL OF MY ENTRIES.

This would not be awesome. So, er, if all of my entries suddenly disappear and I post an entry with a suspicious-looking link to a site that ends with '.ru', don't click, guys.

I politely request that you all write 'sorry you're so stupid' snippets of fanfiction about Jensen and Jared in the comments. (By '"sorry you're so stupid" fanfiction' I mean fanfiction to distract me from thinking 'you're an idiot, Riona', but if you would like to write Jared/Jensen fanfiction with 'sorry you're so stupid' as a prompt, please do!)

I ran Scanzilla and it told me I had a bunch of 'registry keys'? IDK BUT IT WOULDN'T LET ME DELETE THEM UNLESS I GAVE MONEY.

They shouldn't be malicious! There's very little they can do!

Some free spyware removing programs:
Spybot Search and Destroy (http://www.spybot.com/en/download/) - Just don't install the TeaTimer - it's not malicious but it does eat up a lot of your CPU power
Lavasoft Ad-Aware (http://www.lavasoft.com/) - Will try to get you to pay, ignore it. Also it has a tendency to go mental over cookies, which are not malicious, but will do you no harm if you delete them (except that it will delete your Firefox history).
Spyware Blaster (http://www.download.com/SpywareBlaster/3000-8022_4-10196637.html) - Prevention rather than a cure - it just sits in the background and prevents things like this from happening.

ALL WILL BE WELL :)

Search and Destroy was the one I went with before you linked this, and no, I didn't install the TeaTimer. I've also gotten myself the key scrambler, which is probably a good thing in general anyway.

Unlike virus checkers, you can happily install more than one spyware prevention doodad. I have all three of these running (as well as a few other things that are slightly more complex to use). But if S:S&D didn't find anything, then you're fine. Yay!
