You Do Always Come Back!

Why, hello, Toph! I haven't yet seen enough of you to make a judgement, but it's nice to meet you at last.

'ZUKO ALONE' MAKES ME SO SAD. But wee Zuko may be the cutest thing ever to grace my television screen. Bless him! (I think I said 'OH, ZUKO' about five times during that episode. Zuko! I adore you! COME TO MY HOUSE; I PROMISE I WILL LOVE YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE. THERE WILL BE ROOM FOR YOUR CHOCOBO SOMEWHERE, I AM SURE.

...'Chocobo' sounded like a horrible euphemism there, but I can assure you it was not.)

I totally started singing 'Gotta Go My Own Way' from High School Musical 2 at the end of 'Avatar Day'. I'm sorry. I couldn't help myself.

'I need to find my own way.'
'OH, I'VE GOT TO MOVE ON AND BE WHO I AM...'

Have I mentioned how incredibly pretty Avatar is? Because it is. It's absolutely beautiful. Also, it has eight billion fighting scenes, and somehow they never get boring. I have no idea how it has managed that, because fighting scenes usually bore me senseless.

(I just realised I was absently singing 'Secret tunnel, secret tunnel...' to myself. Hooray! I think this is something I shall now have to do every time I go through anything remotely tunnel-like.)

This time, when I opted to restore the entry draft, what appeared was 'So, if a Zoombini knew Waterbending...'

I am not sure where I was going with this, but I suppose the Titanic Tattooed Toads stage would be a lot easier. In fact, if the Zoombinis had a Waterbender, an Earthbender and an Airbender in every team, very few of the stages would be a problem.

Of course, now I am thinking about what Zoombini Katara, Aang and Toph would look like. Airbending Zoombinis totally have propellor feet. Katara, Aang and Sokka would all have blue noses; Toph would have a green one. Zoombini Zuko has a red nose. I suppose Zoombini Zuko would find disguising the fact that he is from the Fire Nation much more difficult than non-Zoombini Zuko. (EDIT: And I have just realised that Zuko's scar would totally translate to cyclopism, were he a Zoombini.)

I need to stop doing things like this.

I should not be this fascinated by the idea of Avatar characters as Zoombinis.

She doesn't bend all ground she walks on, though. All ground she is associated with. That covers all of it.

Toph does take a bit of getting used to, I thought she was a complete brat at first but then she grew on me.

And how awesome was Sokka's detective work?

Also, I don't know whether you're watching Avatar on television or through downloading, but you have to see the three Avatar shorts they made!

I'm not sure where those shorts fit in with the shows, but they're not spoilery at all, and are really just silly excuses to draw everyone as an adorable chibi. Even Zuko.

i still ship zuko/katara. i don't care what anyone says, it's better than katara/aang

I haven't seen much interaction between Zuko and Katara yet, but I can feel a gigantic Zuko/Katara 'shipper lurking within me, waiting for the opportunity to come forward. I don't know why, but I know I have the potential to be such a Zuko/Katara fangirl. I'll just have to wait and see whether Avatar feeds that side of me.

I love the fight scenes for being so, so interesting and pretty and creative with the use of bending.

IROH: WHAT ABOUT US? WHAT ABOUT EVERYTHING WE'VE BEEN THROUGH?

I actually found Avatar Day really annoying. It could have been so cool, but instead seemed... kinda dumb? And of course I do not like dumb things what are you talking about quoting High School Musical I never did that.

They really are! The Lord of the Rings films could definitely have done with some Earthbending.

I like to pretend that Iroh and Zuko actually did sing the whole of 'Gotta Go My Own Way' together, and then Nickelodeon cut that bit out because they thought it was too silly. AVATAR IS TOTALLY A DOCUMENTARY, SHUT UP. (...I just typoed 'shut' as 'why'. I have no idea how this happened.)

And I don't think I can name any specific Avatar episodes that I've actually disliked yet. Perhaps I need to rewatch them before I can pick out the awesome from the not-so-awesome.

EDIT: Although I have to admit that I do hold a bit of a grudge against 'Avatar Day' for splitting up Iroh and Zuko. Had they actually sung 'Gotta Go My Own Way', I would probably have forgiven it, but as it is...

Oh my gosh, I want to see Lord of the Rings with Earthbending SO BAD now. (Starring Toph as Gimli! YESSSS.)

I don't know, Zuko as Gabrielle makes a certain strange sense to me, but Iroh as Troy? I dunno, man. (I still cannot get over how great it was that HSM2 actually had character development!)

Since I haven't watched the Book Two episodes recently enough to properly flail about them, here are some general questions.

How awesome was that part when:
- Sokka was sarcastic??
- Katara was SCARY??
- Zuko was kind of lame and adorable??
- Azula was evil??
- Aang was Good, I mean just -- Good, with a big ol' capital G, but also interesting and conflicted and fun??
- Toph was awesome??
- The Ladies (all of them) were TOTALLY BADASS??
- Iroh was THE BEST EVER, so you wished he was your uncle/BFF??

I, I kind of really like Zhao, for all his jerkitude, just because he totally showed up on this kids' show and went THERE ARE ADULTS IN THIS UNIVERSE, AND THEY ARE JUST AS INTERESTING AS THE KIDS, AND ALSO WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DAMN KIDS DOING. And then set everything on fire. It just makes me so happy that this is a kids' show where adults show up, sometimes to be awesome, sometimes to be jerks, but often to be important characters, and characters in their own right!

I am STILL MAD at the show for splitting up Iroh and Zuko, especially since that totally reduces Iroh's screen time. And yes, the show in general could really use more High School Musical songs. Come on, how bad do we need some Fire Nation soldiers singing Get'Cha Head In The Game at Zuko? VERY BAD.

I have been consciously trying not to get all in your face about Toph, since I think part of why I didn't like the show so much at first was that so many people had gone on and on about how great it is. I AM CONTRARY. But I'm really interested in hearing what you'll think of her! And I'm curious if you're pairing anyone up!

Also, just as sort of a general comment that I've been thinking about for a while: I'm really sad that I'm not into Supernatural. Like, I know that if I loved Sam and Dean, I would love the show so hard, since I absolutely adore shows that are all about taking a pairing/team and putting them into situations where the one or the other is constantly being put in life-threatening peril so that the remaining, non-imperiled one can be upset and do stupid things about it.

Oh, oh, I was so surprised by this, too! Normally they don't really even register with me to like or dislike, but here the fight scenes are one of my favorite parts of the show.

I keep thinking 'Hey! They're fighting! And yet I am not wondering when this scene will be over! HOW ARE YOU DOING THIS, AVATAR? p.s. you are awesome.'

Avatar just gets prettier and prettier. I remember thinking it was pretty in season one, but you get to season three and then you go back to season one and you go, "...um. Budget? Where art thou?" SEASON THREE IS GORGEOUS. AND. BRILLIANT. IN EVERY WAY.

also I was so amused earlier to see your contemplation of Sokka + Iroh epic adventures, because you are very close, BUT. Soon you will learn who Iroh's TRUE, CANONICAL BFF IS. AND THEY WILL HAVE GRAND EPIC ADVENTURES TOGETHER. IN THE SEQUEL. IN MY HEAD.

Speaking of euphemisms, Secret Tunnel is the Avatar Rickroll. Except that saying you got "Secret Tunnel'd" sounds so. Yeah.

Did I mention TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPH?

Zoombinis. Somehow you always manage to revive the strangest, most deeply buried aspects of my childhood. I applaud you.

I would have said 'I CANNOT ASSOCIATE IROH WITH ANYONE BUT ZUKO', and then he met Toph, and the first thing she did was attack him with Earthbending and he responded by giving her tea.

IROH, I LOVE YOU.

I want to have tea with Iroh. I cannot express how much I want to have tea with Iroh.

Zoombinis are amazing! Not as amazing as Iroh, but still amazing.

THERE YOU GO. Toph and Iroh: BFF. I VERY STRONGLY DESIRE the Avatar spin-off series titled: "Toph and Iroh's Epic Adventures (Of Awesome)." It will air in tandem with another Avatar spin-off series that I cannot name for you just yet but when I can you will also approve of its awesome.
