I have now seen up to 'The Serpent's Pass' in Avatar!
I really like how uncomfortable Toph is when she's in situations where she can't see properly: her frustration in the desert (and her joy when they get back onto solid ground), her reluctance to step out onto the ice. And I like that, although she's more restricted than the other characters in some ways (she can't see flying things), she's less restricted in others (she can see things below the ground). Toph's blindness doesn't feel like something that has been forced in so Avatar can meet some quota of disabled characters; it seems to me that the writers were genuinely interested in exploring the ways in which blindness could work within the rules of their world. And the writers never forget that she's blind, but she's never defined by her blindness; she's just a character who happens to be unable to see in the way we understand 'seeing'.
Likewise, the Asian influence on the world of Avatar doesn't feel like a gimmick; it feels like the world that the creators wanted to create.
I think what I'm trying to say here is 'Avatar is so awesome seriously'.
I also like that it doesn't forget about the characters you thought were just going to be around for a single episode. No! Characters return! Actions taken in the past have consequences! The whole thing is just so well put-together. Anyone who dismisses animation as a lesser form than live-action television should really be made to watch it.
Lately, I have been tripping over and walking into things and slamming doors into my head so often that I have considered keeping a count of how many days I have managed to go without injuring myself in some way. I have not yet managed to actually embark on this project, because I keep failing to reach 'one'. This morning, I set a new record by injuring my left wrist before even getting out of bed. Congratulations, self.

And this allows me to mention: "It's a beautiful moon." "Yeah. It really is." and Sokka's scene at the end of the episode and it was AWESOME. ...In an occasionally heartbreaking way.

...I just love Sokka, which is another reason I want to punch Shyamalan. BECAUSE I KNOW WHAT'S COMING.

Alas, a blog! (http://www.amptoons.com/blog/archives/2008/12/10/m-night-say-it-isn’t-so/) ...says things about it.
WHY, M. NIGHT? WHY?

He's wonderful in the show because his driving forces are "naturally I believe in the supernatural since I see it all the time, but that doesn't mean I care for it; science = good, yez bastards!" and "screw destiny; we'll take our fate into our own hands!". As M. Night Shyamalan gets more and more Protection From Editors, his thoughts on the badness of science and the goodness of fate become more and more pronounced. The Happening, Signs, that sort of thing. Sokka's greatest strengths are exactly what Shyamalan hates.
I predict that he will spend the entire movie being proven wrong about everything and having things dropped on his head.

I've never tried to count injury-free days but, given how extraordinarily easily I get damaged when other people wouldn't, I probably can't make it to 1 day - perhaps not even if I was allowed a freebie injury each day that didn't count. I basically start off damaged and things only ever go downhill from there.

Speaking of characters that return, how about that Cabbage Man? He's the best.

Ahahaha, poor Cabbage Man. I'd suggest that perhaps he should look into a different line of work, but he seems to have such a genuine love for cabbages.

Cabbage Man will persevere!

I really must track down season three, as I haven't seen it yet and don't want to get spoiled when you start seeing it. (I have seen one episode though, and more importantly the tail end of another that I cannot wait for you to see.)

Also, I'm a terribly clumsy person. Practically every day I walk into one of the doors downstairs when trying to go through it, and not only does it HURT, but it also sets the door off rattling which seems like it'll never stop... it's really annoying (and painful).

I once gave myself a black eye walking into the edge of the bathroom door in the middle of the night. It was a proud moment.

In my defense, having the floor made out of very thin bamboo strips suspended several feet above the ground might have had something to do with that.

...I will not spoil you, but there is an episode in S3 called The Old Masters which FLOORED me with moral implications. Like, you don't get shows geared toward adults which are gutsy enough to say/do what it said/did.

And every soccer game I was part of in middle school ended up giving me bloody knees, despite the sad lack of getting knocked over, shoved, or hit with the ball (I was the goalie; a very bad goalie). Because I'd inevitably at some point go from leaning forward with my hands on my knees and my fingernails pressed against them to standing up very quickly, and there would be blood.
