Thank you so much for sharing your terrible jokes in yesterday's entry! I haven't laughed so much (or so guiltily) in quite a while.

NOW IT IS TIME FOR A MANIP POST.




The theme today, and I can't quite believe I've never used this one before, is Doctor Who. As ever, you (yes, you) are invited to fill the comments with photomanips of figures from other fandoms as the Doctor or a companion or the Master, or manips of Doctor Who characters with Pokémon, or any other Doctor Who-related (or indeed non-Doctor Who related; the theme isn't terribly strict) manips you feel like making. They do not have to be good; just have fun!

(Merlin manips are also very welcome.)

Ooh, I'm glad you found Tricks of the Mind interesting! (I can still remember the 'telephone, sausage, monkey...' list and the plays of Shakespeare in chronological order and the number 876498474505773498724 and most of the FA Cup Final scores from 1984 to 2006, and I read that book two and a half months ago. (I've also used the number system to memorise my brother's telephone number, though, so it's not entirely useless information. And my housemate's debit card number, just so I can alarm her by reciting it. And, er. The first ninety Pokémon in National Pokédex order. I AM SURE THIS WILL COME IN HANDY.))

I decided not to bother with MOST of the memory things, and now I am glad I didn't, because now I only know ONE useless list of things rather than various but I know how the mnemonic devices themselves work.

Although knowing Shakespeare's plays in chronological order would impress my English literature-studying friends.

And my inner pedant wants to point out that Lord Melchett wasn't in Blackadder Goes Forth, that was General Melchett, Lord Melchett was in the second series.

The number system is actually rather useful. I've been using it to remember most of the dates in my course on the history of the English language. But, yes, I have also been using it to memorise FA Cup final scores when I have no interest in football whatsoever.

Well if you, like me, wish to put your cards in pokedex order rather than how much you like x Pokemon and which version of x Pokemon is cuter, and some of your only versions of cards were scanner cards in which the number is unavailable on the card itself, then it would come in handy. (quick what's pokemon #36?)
