rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (forgive me my skepticism (panpipe))
They're trying to blow us up again? How boring.

Should I be worried that the first place I heard about it is [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes? I'm evidently useless at keeping up with the news.

Also: only one confirmed injury, as far as I can tell, and no fatalities. Overall, a most satisfactory bombing, detracted from only by the fact that the terrorists weren't polite enough to inform us beforehand that they would be planting explosives. Sorry, guys, you lose at terrorism.

(By the way, if I don't like tea, am I not officially English? After the attacks two weeks ago, I felt terribly left out, not being able to participate in the Grand National Tradition of 'bugger it, bombs again, better put the kettle on'. This week's attacks don't seem worthy of the Emergency Tea anyway, though.)

EDIT: On an utterly unrelated note, why is a wizard's wand broken in half upon expulsion from Hogwarts? Surely it's possible to refuse an offered position at the school - is one forbidden to purchase a wand before one completes one's magical education? It's evidently not a coming-of-age thing, as Hagrid still isn't allowed a wand - if you're expelled, that's your magical lot, mate. Do wand-sellers have to ensure that the customer has been through magical school? Do they force Veritaserum down their throats? What about the poor wizarding sods (for I assume there must be some) who don't have access to magical schools?

I suppose it's the same reasoning for people having their thumbs broken upon being expelled from Muggle school. Oh, wait...

Also, I'm trying to write Phineas Nigellus fic, but it keeps veering unnervingly towards Phineas/Dumbledore implications. This is not something I need thank you so very much.
