Perhaps They Should Bring In An Actor Named Looney.
Apparently, The Mentalist is directed by a man named David Nutter.
I just thought I'd mention it.
I like that nobody explicitly states how Jane used Van Pelt to find the car keys at the beginning of 'Red Tide', but a person familiar with the technique can tell. I felt smugly superior to an imaginary other viewer who didn't know, so the bonus for mentalists and readers of Derren Brown's writing was appreciated. (I also appreciated Jane and Van Pelt's sort-of dance whilst he was trying to establish where the keys were. Not 'shipping them yet (apart from the low level on which I appear to be 'shipping Patrick Jane with more or less everyone in the world), but they would be a really pretty couple. And he makes such a performance out of it! And he's so pleased with himself!)
Later in the episode, I assumed that Jane was staying behind at the beach for some undisclosed case-related reason, but pfft, no; he just wanted to make awesome sandcastles. Fair enough! (By 'fair enough' I may possibly mean 'asdagfgsfdfgh I love him'.)
Also, I really like how good Jane is with little kids.
...
...but now, having said that, I have realised why he is so good with little kids, and it sort of makes me want to cry. (NOTE OF CLARIFICATION FOR THOSE UNFAMILIAR WITH THE MENTALIST: Patrick Jane is not, as far as I know, a paedophile.)
You know what I would like to see? I would like to see Patrick Jane go head-to-head with Light Yagami. I think that would be fascinating.
I would also like him to meet Derren Brown, of course. After four episodes, I think I've developed the ability to separate Jane and Brown in my head, but I am immensely amused by the fact that the second, third and fourth episodes all use Derren Brown routines. Yes, all right, Derren Brown is a mentalist and the main character of The Mentalist is (surprise!) a mentalist, so some overlap was bound to occur, but still.

Ahahahaha YES, he's just so genuinely delighted in himself, and then you want to hug your TV. <3_<3
Van Pelt is amazing. SO IS CHO. Omg, Cho is a fabulous, amazing man. It took longer than it should have to realize this, because he has some badass stealth!awesome going on.
Wow, I need to catch up FAST on this show. I totally forgot just how much I completely love it.

I'M JUST QUOTING THIS BECAUSE IT MADE ME HAPPY.
I have certainly seen hints of awesome coming from Cho's direction! I don't think I've yet really formed an idea of his character, but, hey, only four episodes in.

But mostly Lisbon. I ship Van Pelt with that other guy who's name I forgot.
I love The Mentalist. A lot. Jane building sandcastles was kind of adorable.

For a moment, I thought you meant you 'shipped Rigsby/Cho. APPARENTLY I HAVE NOT QUITE GOT OVER THINKING THAT RIGSBY IS VAN PELT.

I think Jane's shippability comes from the fact that he just takes so much joy in doing what he does. AUGH. JANE, HOW SO CUTE?
...I think I might need a Mentalist icon now.

But yeah. So much Mentalist love. (But tbh, if it wasn't for you I would never have even heard of Derren Brown. xD)

(Ahahaha, your icon!)

And because Rigsby is so much better when shipped with Cho. Who is awesome.
I'm not really sure why Cho is awesome? He just comes across that way.

But Rigsby's crush on Van Pelt is so cute! (I actually find myself sort of wanting to 'ship Van Pelt and Jane largely because Rigsby would be crushed. Sorry, Rigsby. I like you, but apparently that doesn't mean I don't want to hurt you.)

Just... thought you'd like to know.

(It doesn't work quite as beautifully as The Mentalist's being directed by a Nutter, though. I don't know whether it's just in the UK, but 'mentalist' and 'nutter' are both slang for 'lunatic'.)

Dude, I will imagine a crossover if a character on one show wears a shirt that looks like one from another character, or something ridiculous like that. Sharing directors is more than appropriate. XD
