Emolga Used Double Team!
More notes on Pokémon White! I am now just past Nimbasa City.
I was a little let down by the ferris wheel scene, largely because I'd somehow been led to believe that it was a RAGING HOTBED OF N/PLAYER SEXUAL TENSION and in the end it was just a raging hotbed of N telling me he was the leader of Team Plasma. I was quite pleased by the revelation, though, because, unless I've severely misinterpreted N's character, it means that at least Team Plasma's leader genuinely believes in their philosophy.
Regarding the Pokémon Musical: ahahaha, what? That's probably the strongest argument I've ever seen for Team Plasma's cause. I dressed my Servine in a top hat and bow tie and sent it onstage to twirl a cane, and someone came up to me afterwards to tell me it was so wonderful that it may have changed their life. I love this ridiculous game.
And then the scene in which Bianca's father accosts her and tries to make her come home actually made me tear up. A Pokémon game made me cry. I was not expecting this. The moment the scene had ended, I went in search of the music in it. More piano music, please, Pokémon games.
I am inordinately amused by the sign for Marvelous Bridge. 'Truly marvelous! And also a bridge!'
Cheren is really interesting! He's your friend, but his attitude to raising Pokémon sort of reminds me of your rival in Gold/Silver. Cheren isn't as actively cruel as Mr ??? (he no longer says 'My name's ???' in SoulSilver, but I still can't resist naming him 'Query'), but they're both focused on power as an ultimate goal and inclined to view their Pokémon purely as a means to that end. NO, CHEREN, YOU HAVE TO TREAT YOUR POKÉMON WITH TRUST AND LOVE.
Not speaking of trust and love: I hate Emolga. I hate it. It's adorable, yes, but I hate it. IT'S AN ELECTRIC TYPE THAT FLIES, SO YOU CAN'T HIT IT WITH GROUND MOVES, AND THEN IT PARALYSES YOU AND USES DOUBLE TEAM EIGHT MILLION TIMES SO YOU CAN'T HIT IT WITH ANYTHING. Not to mention Volt Switch. Go away, Emolga, you absolute git of an adorable flying squirrel.

The Ferris Wheel scene: I think people are so enamored of it because the player character gets to be in a traditionally romantic small enclosed space with a cute guy who insisted you absolutely had to be there with him, and then it turns out all he wanted to do was talk to you. Which, he could have done that anywhere, why did he pick a spot associated with dates? And why does he consider you such a ~worthy opponent~? But mostly it is because he is a cute guy, I think. Nobody said Pokemon fans couldn't be shallow.

(Your icon portrays the CREEPY FIXATION--um what dynamic of the pairing perfectly.)

Also Emolga is an adorable douchebag. I spent forever levelling up a Sandile so I could kick that gym's ass, because silly me, I thought 'oh, it's just an Electric-type gym'. Grrrrrr. Think I managed it with a Roggenrolla in the end.

It was such a cruel joke on the part of the game designers. 'Look, we're putting the Electric Gym just after a desert where you can catch Ground-type Pokémon if you like, because we're nice AHAHAHA OH WAIT DID WE NOT MENTION THAT TWO-THIRDS OF THE LEADER'S TEAM AREN'T AFFECTED BY GROUND MOVES?'

Also, I love my Emolga. I love my Emolgo so so so so much. I don't even know.
...I should start playing the game again, I think.

Ooh, I'm sort of intrigued by this.
I suppose it's all right to love an Emolga you own yourself. I SUPPOSE.

THEN AGAIN I DIDN'T THINK N WAS THAT STALKERISH maybe i'm just unobservant

I AM SO SURPRISED THAT YOU'VE BECOME ATTACHED TO THE BUG POKÉMON THAT IS MOSTLY OBSCURED BY A VAGUELY MUSHROOM-SHAPED SHELL
SO SURPRISED

THIS IS RELEVANT TO THIS ENTRY. (http://www.awkwardzombie.com/index.php?page=0&comic=041111)
Also Emolga is a bitch and I hate it. But I'm raising mine to use it in a bait-n-switch combo with my Gligar.

I suppose Volt Switch would be a very useful move if you wanted to paralyse a Pokémon and get out of there as quickly as possible.

I'm planning to use it in conjunction with U-Turn. :D Bait-n-switch.
