You're The Triangle Guy!
A few nights ago, I had a dream that I watched Atlantis, the BBC's latest Saturday-night fantasy drama series. Having woken, I decided that this was obviously a sign and I should give Atlantis a try. (It's probably not a great idea to take advice from my dreams. Somebody stop me if I try to re-enact the one in which I piss Hitler off at a fancy dinner party.)
About a third of the way into the first episode of Atlantis, I had to pause and fire off a distressed e-mail to
th_esaurus:
NO
ATLANTIS IS MERLIN IN ANCIENT GREECE WITH TIME TRAVEL
(THE MAIN CHARACTER LOSES HIS SHIRT FOUR MINUTES IN, IT IS DEFINITELY MERLIN)
I'M NOT EVEN HALFWAY THROUGH THE FIRST EPISODE
I LOVE IT ALREADY
I'M EVEN 'SHIPPING SOMETHING
NO
THIS IS A DISASTER
Then I finished the episode and spent half an hour looking through Atlantis GIFs on Tumblr and shouting 'NO' at myself.
There's only been one episode, so I suppose things could change, but I can say this much for now: if you liked Merlin, you will probably like Atlantis. If you hated Merlin but nevertheless derived a strange sense of enjoyment from watching it, you will probably hate-love Atlantis as well.
If you haven't watched Merlin and therefore can't use that as a basis, here's a second 'Is Atlantis For Me?' test: if you are looking for high-quality drama, stay away. If you're looking for something ridiculous about a modern-day young man being thrown into Ancient Greece (a turn of events he inexplicably accepts within about five seconds) and developing a gratuitously homoerotic friendship with Pythagoras, I don't know why you're not watching it right now. It's available on BBC iPlayer if you're in the UK.
I think it has very strong potential to be the next big fandom thing.

Okay, I'm curious how that one went!

I was walking past Hitler, and I think I passed too close to his chair? I realised slightly too late that it was Hitler I was practically stepping over and perhaps this was a bad idea. I made for the door, and I was almost there, and I thought I'd got away with it, but THEN THERE WAS A STERN SHOUT AND HITLER'S GUARDS DRAGGED ME BEFORE HIM AND HITLER CASTIGATED ME FOR MY LACK OF MANNERS AND I HAD TO APOLOGISE. It was incredibly nerve-wracking.
When I woke up and told my mum about my dream, she told me off for apologising. She says I should have killed Hitler instead. Alas, dream-Hitler lives to continue his reign of terror, and it's all my fault.

And I tend to avoid reenacting dreams for obvious reasons, but I bought a loom due to a dream, so you're probably being more reasonable on that front.
I'm undecided on Atlantis. It's kind of fun, but I'm currently in a state of not bothering much with TV. I've got multiple shows piling up on iTunes, and the only thing I watch with anything close to regularity is Serangoon Road. If I get into a more TV-watching phase, I may give it a chance.

That's fair enough! I was actually in a not-very-live-action-televisiony phase when I saw Atlantis, so I really wasn't expecting it to grab me in the way it did. It's certainly not the sort of thing I can wholeheartedly recommend to everyone, though; it falls into the 'oh God, this is ridiculous, why do I love it' category of Merlin and High School Musical.

I need to watch it. I missed out on Merlin, but I won't miss out on this (mythology/fables/fairy tales is/are my weakness)

PYTHAGARUS. HERCULES (or Heracles which would be more accurate for Ancient Greece if I'm right?). THE MINATOR. I JUST.
I CANT, RIONA. I CANT. I LOVE THIS SHOW ALREADY. ITLL BE LIKE A MYTHICAL WATERLOO ROAD IN TERMS OF SO AWFUL/CHEESY THAT I LOVE IT.
Yeah, I kinda caps locked there for a while. Sorry.

Heracles would indeed be more accurate for Ancient Greece! Although Atlantis does not seem tremendously concerned with accuracy. The Roman name generally seems more popular, so I can understand why they went with it; almost everyone has heard of Hercules, but some viewers might not have realised who he was if he'd introduced himself as Heracles.

(The Guardian's incredibly accurate description of Atlantis, incidentally: It's as if you've crammed all night for a classics exam and fallen asleep in the test, muddling the stories into a caffeine-tableted soap opera dream.)

Have you tried Sleepy Hollow, by the way? It's also enjoyable but with added creepy monster action.

The Guardian Guide preview of ep 2 of Atlantis today is basically: 'This series has fanfic already! So it must be good' *g*
Ahahaha, oh God, really? Would it be possible to type that bit up?
