Would 'How Hard Can It Be?' Be Tempting Fate?

Well, tomorrow I set off for the Netherlands, hopefully to return on Saturday. I've never ventured out of the country on my own before - in fact, I've barely been out of London unaccompanied - and I am, to be perfectly honest, absolutely terrified. My family seems to have a bit of a knack for attracting holiday-related disaster; we were kicked out of the last villa we stayed in, and the water tank in the one before that exploded in a rather spectacular fashion and ejected its contents through the roof. I just have to hope that I'm not going to manage to blow up [livejournal.com profile] dracothelizard's residence.

(I have to warn you, Draco, that I am exceptionally bad at a) making conversation and b) holidaying, and may very well drive you absolutely mad before the week is out, provided I ever actually see you and am not stranded in the middle of nowhere by my general hopelessness at c) travelling.)

If you turn on the news and hear '...the Dutch madwoman is refusing to return the kidnapped girl to her family until she is given unfettered access to the Labradoodle from popular programme Top Gear', that's us! We'll wave to the camera for you.

(EDIT: Also, when did Cameron stop being lovely? Seriously, House writers, what's happened to her in Series Three?)

(EDIT II: RETURN OF THE EDIT: Also also, I think I like Martha. Which is good. I also liked the random nameless well-spoken young doctor who was trying to keep everyone calm, and had interesting thoughts at the 'I love my sonic screwdriver!' line, because [livejournal.com profile] personobjectotp has clearly corrupted me for ever.

Oh, and the Stig is evil!)

Have a fantastic time! Don't forget, the security of Top Gear Dog is in YOUR HANDS.

I liked the random pretty doctor person, too. Though I was extremely surprised he didn't die.

Apologies in advance if we end up co-writing fanfiction about Jeremy getting pregnant with James' vampire child. Do you have any idea how disappointed I'm going to be if you don't? *encourages all co-written crackfic*

I think I just won. =D

Have a good time! Oh, and good luck at, you know, a) making conversation and b) holidaying and c) travelling, etc. :)

PS I was intrigued by the young doctor, too - he was focused on to some extent without dying, and then we heard him on the radio talking about Mister Saxon, so I can't help but wonder if he'll come back as a baddie or something. Hmm.

Have a great time! We expect crack!fic from you both, btw.

Oooo! Have a good time! Give Draco a hug for me! Try not to cause Armageddon!

[identity profile] darthfi.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 12:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you need to be there as well for Armageddon to ensue.

"'...the Dutch madwoman is refusing to return the kidnapped girl to her family until she is given unfettered access to the Labradoodle from popular programme Top Gear'"

You know, you really shouldn't give me ideas. Besides, wouldn't holding a Zonda or Veyron for ransom work better? Although I suppose you'd be in it for the chance to meet Clarkson.

And hurrah for calm doctor! He'll do well. *pets him*

Also, if you DO manage to somehow blow up the entire studenty flat, well, I have been thinking about moving anyway!

And as my mother already pointed out, I'm not always terribly good with having people around me a lot, but I have survived holidaying with a group of friends without killing them, so I'm sure I won't kill you.

"fanfiction about Jeremy getting pregnant with James' vampire child."

I WILL HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT. I don't think vampires can have sex anyway.

[identity profile] dracothelizard.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, true. I don't think I'd get the press on my side if I held a car for ransom. Frightened teenage girls would work better, obviously.

Vampires, maybe, but I'm drawing the line at pregnancy! Do we REALLY want to put Vampire!James through the ordeal of pregnant!Jeremy? No, no, we don't.

I liked Mr. Stoker.

I was so heartbroken when he died.

Have fun! And I'd also like to join the bandwagon of liking pretty-well-spoken-doctor-man. He was sweet. XD

[identity profile] cryforthemoon.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 01:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Best of luck! I'm sure you'll be fine. :D

...Doctor/Sonic Screwdriver ARGH.

[identity profile] wanttobeatree.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the lovely doctor's name was Morgenstern, or something like that. It's in the radiotimes, anyway.

(Cameron was never lovely :P)

[identity profile] wanttobeatree.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope so. In my heart of hearts, he is already the new Mickey.

(But she's such fun as the insane manipulative nymphomanic. Every episode is like a game of 'guess what wacky things Cameron will be up to next!')

[identity profile] hold-onhope.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
AHHHHH I wasn't thinking when I read that second edit. I can't see Doctor Who until July! But I'm glad to learn that you like Martha. I was hoping that she's like-able.

[identity profile] hold-onhope.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
:) No no, it wasn't too spoilery. I'm just paranoid.

[identity profile] newbie1990.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Have a brilliant time! I'm sure you won't attract too much disaster. Generally, the rule is, if you write the things down, they will not occur, so I am sure none of the things you have written here will occur, because my rule works, damnit!

Also, Cameron stops being lovely? I haven't seen very much of Season Three...nooo!

I think I had similar thoughts regarding Doctor Who. Martha seems wonderful, and I hope the lovely doctor returns, and um, yes, there was Doctor/Sonic Screwdriver, wasn't there?

No, the Stig is not evil! He just has two evil triplets! He is the good one, yes.

[identity profile] twilit-wanderer.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope you have fun, and also that you do not die or cause things to explode randomly!

[identity profile] squeemu.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Have an awesome time! I FULLY EXPECT TO HEAR ABOUT ALL THE CRAZY HIJINKS and if the universe implodes because of the sheer crossover crackfic ideas, I'll know who to blame.

(Seriously. If I wake up in Silent Hill or something, you are so getting a letter from your dead wife from Jeremy Clarkson from someone important to you. I WILL HAVE JUSTICE.

[identity profile] jira-rd.livejournal.com 2007-04-04 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
*wanders in from Draco's journal*

I agree with you on Cameron. She was sweet in S1, and then got a bit... weird in S2. And now I'm just like, "... WTF. What happened to your lovely character?"

... She and Chase = No. Sorry. No romantic attraction and it just doesn't seem like the two of them mesh in the show. Sure, they're engaged in real life. Their characters do not work, at least not in my eyes.

Uh. Hi! I meant to just pop in and say I agree with you on Cameron and you get a rant. I'm not usually this ranty. I'm always this babbly. But not this ranty.
