You Drugged Me? Okay.
Up to episode 2.07 of Lost, 'The Other 48 Days'!
'Everybody Hates Hugo': every time this show puts characters in close quarters together, I just want them to kiss. Jack/Sayid had not previously occurred to me, but they went into the lower levels of the bunker together and, bam, immediately wanted them to kiss.
Okay, I usually enjoy characters making bad decisions in fiction, but occasionally a decision is so bad that I just go 'what, no, that's stupid and I can't believe in it' (this was a struggle I had with Bellamy in The 100), and 'Hurley decides to blow up the supplies so he doesn't have to deal with the ill feeling caused by rationing' definitely qualifies. Thank goodness for Rose. I'm glad everyone got to have a nice evening instead.
Sun quietly burying the bottle so everyone else can hold on to hope is heartbreaking.
Good to have an episode end on a moment of calm, rather than just another cliffhanger! It feels like it's been a while.
'...And Found': I really like the way different survivors have different skills that help everyone manage on the island. Jack's medical knowledge, Sayid's ability with electronics, Sun's knowledge of plants, Michael's architectural skill, Locke's hunting, Jin's fishing. Although, come to think of it, Jin is pretty crucial to everyone's survival as one of their main procurers of food; he probably shouldn't have been on that raft!
It's interesting to see a show with a character who has his own plotlines and forms his own relationships despite not speaking the same language as most of the other characters.
'Abandoned': Shannon/Sayid continues to be cute, and they look great together. I still miss Shannon/Boone, though; it was terrible and therefore excellent.
I find myself wondering about birth control on the island. I'm sure there was some quantity of condoms on the plane, but at some point they're going to run out. I suppose different characters will have different ways of dealing with that.
Come to think of it, I wonder how people are shaving. Making use of Locke's knife collection?
I like that Claire and Charlie are co-parenting while not being in a romantic relationship.
'Slowly, angrily dying of a gunshot wound' looks pretty good on Sawyer.
Shannon continues to break my heart. Refusing to be helped to her feet, so she can at least believe she can do something on her own! Her conviction that Sayid will leave her as soon as they get off the island!
I'd been spoiled for the fact that Shannon died in this season, but I wasn't prepared for it to happen so early, or like that! What the fuck!
Shannon barely appeared in the first few episodes of season two, then finally got some focus and was immediately killed in a pointless accident. It makes me wonder whether the writers just didn't know what to do with her after Boone's death. Which would be a little sad; even the writing of the show itself plays into Shannon's 'I can't do anything on my own' issues.
'The Other 48 Days': 'holding the camera on a peaceful beach until the tail of the plane crashes into the water' is an incredible shot to open this episode.
Nathan Ingram just has no luck in any universe, huh? (I was very confused when one of the other tail survivors turned out to be called Nathan.)
I feel so bad for the tail survivors. They never had a chance; they could never enjoy themselves or let their guards down around each other because they could never feel safe. Never realised what a comparatively good situation the rest of the survivors were in.
GOODWIN HOLY SHIT. I was so shocked when he broke Nathan's neck! I trusted you, Goodwin! You had 'good' in your name!
Lost, stop ending episodes on a cliffhanger or a huge event and then not following up on it in the next episode! I can't handle it!
