Blanket Fluffiness At Odd Hours.

Back home! The journey home was mostly uneventful, although I did get accosted by a man who appeared to be threatening me with a lighter until I realised he was just asking for a cigarette. I suppose lurking alone in shadowy corners of a Belgian station makes one look like a cigarette-carrying type. As a general rule, when attempting to use a lighter to convey 'cigarette', just display the lighter and keep it unlit; holding it much too close to the chest of the person to whom you are speaking and flicking it on and off continuously is apt to unnerve.

The Netherlands were absolutely lovely; it's the first time in ages I've been able to take a proper holiday without worrying about anything. Apart from bicycles, which are everywhere, and they are swift and quiet and could rebel against their human masters and kill us all at any moment.

[livejournal.com profile] dracothelizard and I, I have discovered to my surprise, are not actually the same person. Nor is she Top Gear Dog, as I had sort of imagined she would be, probably due to her userpics. She is, however, utterly wonderful. We spent most of the week insulting each other. I put up with her mocking my terror at Silent Hill 4; she, in turn, put up with my suddenly waking in the middle of the night, flailing around a lot and then tying my trousers around my head in the desperate hope that they would somehow fend off a particularly furious mosquito (SHUT UP, I HAVE A PHOBIA). It was glorious.

ALSO, I NOW HAVE THE BEST SLIPPERS EVER. THEY ARE FLUFFY AND CLOG-SHAPED AND HAVE WINDMILLS* ON THEM AND THEY ARE THE SILLIEST THINGS EVER AND I LOVE THEM.

* The reader may be disappointed to learn that these are actually images of windmills. Not, y'know, windmills. Although those would be fairly awesome slipper accessories.

Welcome back, and it is excellent that you had such a nice time!

*shudders* Disturbing cigarette-wanting men are precisely why I tend not to venture fom the safety of my home.

Mosquitoes are not as terrifying as flies (I shudder even typing the word). They are so large and buzzing and ew-looking and now I am grossing myself out.

Now I want slippers with actual windmills on. Because awesome.
